Afternoon Round-up

Attempted armed robbery, Maroochydore: Police are investigating the attempted armed robbery of a motel in Maroochydore which occurred last evening. Initial investigations suggest that shortly after 8pm two men entered the motel and were disturbed by an employee.  They used what appeared to be a handgun to threaten the employee but left the dwelling empty handed. The pair was last seen heading towards Bradman Street. The first man is described as being Caucasian, between 160 and 170cm tall, wearing dark clothing. The second man was also wearing dark clothing.

Taxi robbery charge, Burpengary: An 18-year-old Burpengary man has been charged in relation to the alleged assault and robbery of a taxi driver on October 22. It is alleged the man caught the cab in Fortitude Valley and traveled to Caboolture, where he assaulted the driver, forcing him from the vehicle, before stealing the cab. The vehicle was later located abandoned in Deception Bay. The man is due to appear in the Redcliffe Magistrates Court on November 18 charged with on one count each of assault with intent to steal, unlawful use of a vehicle, stealing, and evade cab fare.
