Morning Round-up Second Edition

Unlawful wounding charges, Brisbane:  A Brisbane man has been charged with unlawful wounding following an early morning incident at a Brisbane motel yesterday. Around 8.50am the man allegedly gained entry to a North Quay hotel room where he allegedly stabbed a man in the leg before fleeing. A 39-year-old Tarragindi man was treated at St. Andrews Hospital for a non life threatening wound to his leg. A 29-year-old man is due in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today charged with unlawful wounding and burglary.

Adverse weather, Central and South East Queensland: Police would like to remind members of the community, the motoring public and the boating fraternity to exercise extreme care when traversing waterways, watercourses and roads slippery from on-going rain. Significant rainfall has resulted in an increase in water flow in many streams, tributaries and water courses and police are urging everyone to exercise extreme caution. Motorists are asked to slow down when traveling in heavy rain and on water affected roads; they are also reminded that road conditions may be difficult to assess after dark and water depth and storm debris hard to accurately detect. Parents are also being urged to discourage children from playing in waterways which are affected by flooding. Water levels and conditions can change rapidly causing dangerous currents and storm surges, which could result in people being swept away. Members of the public should monitor the localised flooding situation in their area by listening to local radio updates and contacting local councils and community organisations such as the RACQ.

Appeal for witnesses, fatal crash, Glasshouse Mountains: Police wish to speak to two men in their early 20’s that were present at a crash site where a male pedestrian was killed on February 5. The men were seen walking on the Bruce Highway, western side of the north bound lanes, at the Glasshouse Mountains around 8.15pm. Preliminary investigations indicate that a male pedestrian had entered the northbound lanes near the Beerburrum exit when he was hit by a vehicle around 8pm. He died at the scene. The male driver of the vehicle was not injured however he was taken to hospital for shock. Investigations are continuing.

Anyone with information which could assist police with their investigations should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day.
