Armed robbery, Capalaba: A southside pharmacy was robbed by a man wielding a knife about 12.45pm yesterday. The man entered the store on Old Cleveland Road and walked behind the dispensary counter, threatening the female employee with the knife and demanding the contents of the cash registers. He escaped with a sum of cash and was last seen running into bushland towards the Capalaba shopping centre. He did not harm the employee. The offender is described as being Caucasian, about 175cm tall, aged in his late 20s and with a solid build and fair complexion. He was wearing a maroon hooded jumper, light blue track pants and white sneakers. He also had a red, black and yellow cloth covering his face. House fire, Chermside West: Police believe a fire which damaged a home at Chermside West yesterday afternoon may have been deliberately lit. About 4.30pm, the male resident of the home was woken by his dogs barking at which time he saw that his house was on fire. The blaze appears to have started in a spare room behind the garage and spread to the laundry and garage however no structural damage was sustained. The cause of the fire has not yet been ascertained and the scene has been guarded overnight pending examination today.
