Search for missing men continues, Brisbane’s inner north: Police will continue the search for two missing elderly gentlemen both last seen yesterday afternoon in unrelated circumstances. 77-year-old Nick Foundadjis was last seen at his nursing home in Windsor just after lunch although it is believed he was later seen walking north on Lutwyche Road. He was wearing a grey t-shirt with yellow strips and jeans. He is described as 175cm, thin build and grey curly hair. Mr Foundadjis speaks with a strong Greek accent, has limited English and may become confused and not aware of his surroundings. 84-year-old Josef Tabi was last seen yesterday afternoon at Heather Street, Wilston. He was wearing a long sleeved blue chequered shirt, blue jeans, brown sandals and a green baseball cap. Mr Tabi is described as 165cm tall, average build, fair complexion and speaks with a strong Hungarian accent. Police are concerned for Mr Tabi’s welfare as he does not have his diabetes medication with him. Media note: A photo of Mr Tabi is available from Police Media. Marine rescue, Torres Strait: Police have praised the occupants of a stricken dinghy for having an EPIRB onboard which assisted in locating the vessel quickly and accurately. Around 5.30pm yesterday AUSAR Canberra contacted Thursday Island police to advise of an EPIRB activation approximately six nautical miles north east of Darnley Island in the north eastern Torres Straits. A helicopter was tasked from Thursday Island and located a dinghy, which appeared to be anchored on a reef, with three people onboard. Thursday Island water police attended the location and the occupants have been returned safely home. It is believed the vessel experienced engine trouble.
Fatal industrial incident, Mackay: A 34-year-old man from Grasstree Beach died yesterday as concrete bridge sections were being moved at the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal around 3.10pm. Initial investigations indicate that as the load was moving slowly forward, the man attempted to remove blocks of timber which were in the way when he is believed to have tripped and fallen under the load. Federal Workplace Health and Safety, Com Care, is expected to attend today to complete their investigation.
