Murder charges, Rainbow Beach: Police have charged a 75-year-old man with murder after the death of a 39-year-old Rainbow Beach man. Around 6pm on June 30 police responded to a triple zero call and located a man deceased in the front yard of a Rainbow Beach residence. The 75-year-old will appear in Gympie Magistrates today.
Serious crash, Jindalee: Police attended a five vehicle crash on the Centenary Highway at Jindalee yesterday. Around 11am both lanes had banked up due to another minor crash further north, when a tip truck collided with a car. The truck then hit another stationary car, which in turn side-swiped a stationary tow-truck before the car was forced into another truck. The 30-year-old Collingwood Park women driving the first car hit, and her 22-year-old female passenger were trapped for around two hours. They suffered non-life threatening injuries. The 57-year-old women driving the other car suffered minor injuries, while the drivers of the three trucks involved were not injured. The forensic crash unit is investigating. Update – missing person, Broadbeach: A 30-year-old woman feared missing yesterday has been located safe and well. Clothing and personal items belonging to interstate visitor, Shannon Falconer were located at 6am yesterday on the beach. The woman contacted relatives late yesterday and told them that she had returned home interstate.
