Armed robbery, Springwood: A man allegedly armed with a knife robbed a video store at Springwood this evening. Around 8.30pm the man entered Blockbuster Video located on Cinderella Drive and demanded cash from an employee. The man fled on foot and no one was injured during the incident. The man is described as Caucasian, aged between 20 to 30 years and approximately 180cms tall. He was wearing a brown / green army type beanie and a long sleeve black t-shirt.
Fatal crash, Sharpers Creek (near Duaringa): A teenager tragically died last night after he was struck by a utility at Sharpers Creek, approximately 9 klms east of Duaringa around 7pm. The youth was asleep on a bus when the vehicle suffered mechanical problems and pulled over. The driver and several passengers alighted from the vehicle with the sleeping teenager awaking several minutes later. The youth exited the bus and walked around the luggage trailer and onto the Capricorn Highway where he was struck by a passing vehicle. The Queensland Ambulance Service transported the man to Duaringa where his condition deteriorated and he succumbed to his injuries. The male driver and sole occupant of the utility was uninjured. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
Robberies, Bray Park and Warner: Police are searching for a man who they believe robbed two northside food outlets last evening. Around 6.05pm a man entered a takeaway shop located on Francis Road Bray Park and stood in line behind a female customer. As the store attendant was serving the woman the man pushed her out of the way and grabbed money from the till. A female customer in a Subway Store at Warner was also shoved out of the way by a man who then grabbed money from the till around 7.30pm last night. This store was located approximately three kilometers from the original offence. The man is described as approximately 25-years-old, 182cms tall and with a slim build. He was wearing a green hoody jumper (with the hood up) with a black stripe down the sleeve, a bright yellow cap underneath the jumper and white joggers.
Serious assault, Townsville: A 25-year-old man underwent surgery this morning following an incident at the Exchange Hotel, Flinders Street, Townsville. Around 1am an altercation occurred between several people at the hotel which resulted in the man receiving a wound to his head. He was transported to Townsville Base Hospital where he remains in a stable condition. Police investigations are continuing.
Serious crash, Booie (near Kingaroy): A 35-year-old Booie man is in a serious but stable condition in hospital following a single vehicle rollover last evening. Around 11.10pm the man was driving along Burkes Road, Booie when he lost control of his vehicle and rolled into a culvert. Emergency service personnel had to extract the driver and sole occupant from the car which was lying on its side. The man, believed to have suffered head injuries, was transported to Kingaroy Hospital. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
