Assault arrest, Tolga: A 27-year-old West End man is now in a stable condition in Townsville Hospital after allegedly being punched in the face on Main Street at Tolga on May 9. A 26-year-old Tolga man has been charged with grievous bodily harm and will face Cairns Magistrates Court on June 3.
Police assaulted, Goondiwindi: A Goondiwindi police woman is battered and bruised after being seriously assaulted on Saturday afternoon. Police went to a disturbance at Stafford Street, Goondiwindi at 3.45pm on Saturday where they located a man who alleged he had been assaulted. Police located the alleged suspect, a 20-year-old Goondiwindi man at a nearby house and arrested him. During the arrest an 18-year-old woman allegedly punched a female police officer in the mouth cracking her teeth. Two male police officers were also allegedly assaulted by the 18-year-old woman and another woman while attempting to take the man from the house. The second woman then allegedly punched the police woman in the face splitting her lip. When the male officers were placing the man in the police car he allegedly spat in their faces. The female officer continued to struggle with the two women who had followed police out onto the street, the female officer was again allegedly assaulted and received a split cheek. The man and the 18-year-old woman will appear in Warwick Magistrates Court today on three charges of serious assault of a police officer and two charges of obstructing a police officer. The man will face an addition charge of assault occasioning bodily harm. Police are continuing investigations into the second woman.
