Crash, Mt Gravatt East: Police are appealing for the driver of a vehicle involved in crash at Mt Gravatt East last night, which left two people in hospital with serious injuries, to come forward. Witnesses told police two vehicles were seen speeding along Creek Road around 9.45pm before they crashed. One vehicle went up an embankment, flipped and hit a pole, trapping the male driver and female passenger. The man and woman were freed from the vehicle and taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital. The driver of the second vehicle did a u-turn and was last seen driving towards Carindale. The vehicle is described as a blue two-door Lancer which will be damaged. The male driver is described as being in his late teens to early 20s. Anyone who saw the vehicles before they collided or witnessed the crash are also asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or the Forensic Crash Unit on 3364 3311.

Suspicious death, Bribie Island: Investigations are continuing into the murder of a 34-year-old man last night at Bellara on Bribie Island. Police were notified around 7.20pm a group of people were involved in an altercation at a residence on Eucalypt Street and one person had been stabbed. When police arrived, they located the 34-year-old Bribie Island man deceased. A crime scene has been established and police have conducted doorknocks and are speaking to witnesses. A 38-year-old Bellara man is also assisting police with their investigations.

Armed robbery charge, North Ward: A 21-year-old Bushland Beach man was charged with the armed robbery of the Bundock Convenience Store at North Ward last night. It is alleged the man entered the store around 8.45pm armed with a piece of glass and demanded cash and cigarettes. No money was handed over but he allegedly stole cigarettes. Police located him a short time later on Bundock Street where he was arrested. He is due to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on Monday.

Robbery charge, Parkwood: A 30-year-old Southport man was charged today with the robbery of a Parkwood pharmacy on Friday. It is alleged the man entered the Parkwood Family Pharmacy on Olsen Avenue around 6.15pm armed with a large knife and stole a number of packets of medication. He was charged with robbery with violence and will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Monday.


Update, Swanbank Power station protest: A total of 13 people were charged following the two day protest at Swanbank Power station. Police were called to the site around 6.15am on Friday after a number of protestors climbed onto the emission stacks and conveyor belts. Five people from New South Wales, a 28-year-old woman and four men aged 51, 36, 31 and 28, a 22-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man from South Australia and two Tasmanian men aged 32 and 25, were charged with wilful damage, unlawfully climbing a structure and trespass on Friday. They will appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on July 22. Police continued to negotiate overnight with a further four people who allegedly remained on the structure. Three men aged 29, 27 and 26 from New South Wales and a 24-year-old woman from Scotland surrendered to police yesterday afternoon. They were also charged with wilful damage, trespass and unlawfully climbing a structure and will appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on August 22.


Drug charge, Bald Hills: A 25-year-old Bald Hills man was charged yesterday with trafficking drugs. Around 10.30am police intercepted the man on Wakefield Street at Bald Hills and it is alleged he was carrying drugs including methylamphetamine and utensils. Police subsequently executed a search warrant on a residence on Wakefield Street and allegedly located more drugs and utensils. The man was charged with trafficking and possession of things used in a crime and two counts each of possession of a dangerous drug and possession of a utensil. He is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.
