A man police believe can help with their inquiries in relation to the attempted murder of two men at Banyo is available from the Media and Public Affairs Branch.

Missing man located
Police wish to advise that the 83-year-old man who went missing last Friday from a bus shelter in Labrador was located late last night safe and well.

Home invasion, Lawnton - Break and enter arrest, Seven Hills - Armed robbery arrest, Gold Coast - Traffic diversion, Brisbane Valley Highway
Home invasion, Lawnton: A man was assaulted in his unit at Lawnton about 8.20pm yesterday. Two men entered the unit in Slater Street and began to assault the victim by punching him and attempting to strangle him. After assaulting the victim the men left the unit and walked towards the Lawnton railway station. The man suffered a laceration to his face and swelling and was treated at the Redcliffe hospital. Offender one is described as Caucasian, slim build, fair complexion, 183cms tall and with sandy coloured hair. Offender two is Caucasian, 175cms tall and of heavy build.

Police are investigating the sexual assault of a 35-year-old woman at Ashgrove last night.

Police are investigating the armed robbery of the McDonald’s store at Browns Plains early this morning.

Armed hold up, Mermaid Beach - Armed hold up, Broadbeach - Robbery with violence, Logan - Missing man, Labrador - Banyo attempted murder arrest - Assault arrest, Capalaba - Rescue, Rosedale
Armed hold up, Mermaid Beach: Just before 1am this morning, two men held up the Nightowl convenience store on the Gold Coast Highway at Mermaid Beach. After entering the store, one of the men produced a knife and demanded the attendant hand over money. The first offender stole the contents of the register and ran out of the store, leaving the second offender inside the store. The second offender demanded more money and after being refused, stole several packets of cigarettes. A witness saw the two offenders leave the store in a white Ford Falcon, which was last seen in Tamborine Street. One offender is described as approximately 30 years of age, 175cm tall and proportionate build. The second is described as approximately 30 years of age, 180cm and solid build. Both offenders were wearing stockings over their heads, full length clothing and gloves.

Three men, all aged in their late teens, are currently assisting police with their inquiries in relation to the attempted murder of two men at Banyo last night.

A 69-year-old woman was killed this morning in a two vehicle traffic incident at Cooroibah.

Police have released photos of three men that may be able to assist with their investigations into the stabbing of a 25-year-old man and a 30-year-old man at Banyo last night.

Attempted murder, Banyo - Search resumes, Labrador - Armed robbery, South Brisbane - Serious fall, Surfers Paradise - Overdue fishing vessel located, near Cairns - Armed robbery arrest, Inala
Attempted murder, Banyo: About 10.30pm last night, police were called to a Banyo address following reports of the attempted murder of a 25-year-old man. It is believed the man had arrived home suffering a number of stab wounds to the back. Ambulance officers transported him the RBH in a serious condition. While conducting a search of the nearby area, Railway Squad staff located a second victim, a 30-year-old man, in the child’s playground in Banyo Memorial Park. The man was suffering severe lacerations to the back of his head. The man was also transported to the RBH and is in a satisfactory condition. The man was able to tell police that he and the 25-year-old man had been attacked by a group of five youths of Aboriginal appearance in the park. Information from the RBH has indicated the 25-year-old man has suffered a punctured lung and fractured rib. Police are conducting investigations.

Police are appealing for witnesses to a hit and run incident at Upper Coomera yesterday morning.

Police search for missing elderly man
Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate a missing elderly man from the Labrador area.

Missing person search, Charters Towers - Investigation continues into website photographs -
Missing person search, Charters Towers: The search for a 55-year-old man missing from a property 40 kilometres west of Charters Towers will recommence this morning. About 5.45pm last night, the man was checking flood waters on the property when the bridge he was on collapsed, causing him to fall into the water. A search by the emergency services helicopter last night failed to locate the man. The helicopter, local police and SES members will continue the search this morning.

Police investigate death of woman, Kallangur
Police are investigating the death of a 55-year-old woman at Kallangur.

Attempted murder arrest, Kangaroo Point
Attempted murder arrest, Kangaroo Point: Two men, aged 49 and 50, have been charged with attempted murder following an incident last night at Kangaroo Point. Between 8 and 8.30pm a 45-year-old woman was assaulted with an iron bar in a unit on Ellis Street, Kangaroo Point. The woman managed to escape by jumping over the first storey balcony and sought the assistance from a woman passing by. She was transported to the PA hospital where she was treated for a compound fracture to her elbow, a laceration to her head as well as extensive bruising and swelling. Police wish to speak to the woman who to came to her aid. The two men were taken to the Brisbane City Watchhouse and charged with attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, committing an act intending to cause grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm while armed and in company and deprivation of liberty. They will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning.

Police are investigating the armed robbery of The Grape liquor store at Enoggera earlier today.

Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal accident that occurred at Gatton last night to come forward.

Assault occasioning bodily harm arrest, Fortitude Valley - Robbery with violence arrest, Surfers Paradise - Fatal traffic incident, Gatton - Fatal traffic accident, Hopevale
Assault occasioning bodily harm arrest, Fortitude Valley: A 38-year-old man has been arrested following the serious assault of a 30-week pregnant 27-year-old woman yesterday afternoon. About 5pm, police were called to a Prospect Street, Fortitude Valley address following reports of a serious assault. It is alleged the woman was assaulted and struck a number of times with a wooden item. As a result of injuries sustained, the woman was immediately transported to the RBH, where the baby was delivered. The woman also suffered a fractured left arm, left leg and ribs. The baby is being monitored by doctors. The 38-year-old man was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, enter dwelling and commit and indictable offence, acts intended to commit grievous bodily harm and attempt to kill unborn child. He will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning.

Police are appealing for witnesses to a single vehicle fatal accident that occurred in Lota on January 19 to come forward.

Armed robbery, Burpengary - Armed robbery, Shorncliffe - Fatal traffic accident - Wilful exposure/public nuisance arrest, South Brisbane
Armed robbery, Burpengary: Just before 9pm last night, four men held up the Caltex Service Station on Old Gympie Rd, Burpengary. During the incident, one man smashed a crowbar on the counter, while a second man, armed with a knife, threatened the attendant and demanded money. The third man stood over the counter and yelled at the attendant while the fourth remained at the door. The men obtained a sum of money and cigarettes, before heading into bushland. The offenders are described as being of Caucasian appearance. One offender is approximately 18 years of age, with brown hair and was wearing a black t-shirt with “Ford” on the front, dark grey long shorts and dark shoes. The second man is approximately 17 years of age, of proportionate build with brown hair and was wearing a white cap, light coloured button up shirt with a collar, navy shorts, white joggers and a wrist bracelet with beads. The third is approximately 17 years of age, with brown hair and was wearing a red cap, a grey tracksuit top with black stripes on the sleeves and shoulders. The fourth is approximately 17 years of age with brown hair. He was wearing a black t-shirt, light grey shorts, a handkerchief over his face, white joggers and gloves.

Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle traffic incident which occurred at Maaroom, south of Maryborough, this morning.

Home invasion, Hemmant - Assault and robbery, Eagleby - Indecent assault, South Brisbane - Suspicious fire, Chinchilla
Home invasion, Hemmant: About 12.15am this morning, two or three offenders have broken into a Hemmant address and assaulted a 21-year-old man. After forcing entry to the address by smashing a window and damaging a door, the offenders have gone upstairs and located the two male residents. Fearing for his safety, one of the men exited the address through a window. The second 21-year-old man was unable to exit in time and was assaulted by the offenders. The offenders have then stolen a computer and left the scene. The 21-year-old man was admitted to the PA Hospital for treatment. One offender is described as male, with a large build and brown hair.

Police are investigating the armed robbery of the BP service station on Gooding Drive at Merrimac earlier this morning.

Police investigate death of woman, Goodna
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a 22-year-old woman at Goodna last night.

Assault, Sumner Park
Assault, Sumner Park: Police are investigating an assault incident at a licensed brothel at Sumner Park early this morning. At 3.50am, an altercation occurred between a male customer and a male staff member. After being ejected from the establishment, the customer has produced a knife and threatened the staff member. A struggle ensued causing the male customer to drop the knife. He then produced a second knife before running off. The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his early 20s, 160cm tall, and had blonde hair and a fair complexion. It is not known what clothing the offender was wearing.

Blackwater police have arrested and charged a 21-year-old man from Western Australia after he sprayed a can of capsicum spray on pub patrons early this morning.

Police wish to advise motorists traveling on the Bruce Highway to expect major delays north of Gin Gin today after an accident overnight.

Fatal accident, Yamanto: A man, believed to be aged in his 30’s, has died in a two vehicle accident on the Cunningham Highway about 11.40pm. The head-on collision between a ford sedan and a semi-trailer occurred near the Purga Creek Bridge at Yamanto.

Police are at still at the scene of an armed robbery at the Suncorp Metway Bank, Isle Of Capri.

Attempted robbery, Boronia Heights - Armed robbery, Birkdale - Fatal accident, Pomona -
Attempted robbery, Boronia Heights: About 8.20pm a man driving an old model blue vehicle approached a young man riding a pushbike along Middle Road. The man produced what is believed to be a firearm and demanded money. The victim had nothing and the offender drove off. It is believed this person may have threatened another driver earlier in the evening. The offender is described as being of Caucasian appearance, in his late 20’s, with a thin build, scruffy hair and acne scarring.

Police have charged a 26-year-old man with attempted murder following an incident at Manly West this afternoon.

Attempted abduction, Caloundra - Robbery with violence, Indooroopilly - Security photos available
Attempted abduction, Caloundra: Police are investigating the attempted abduction of a 14-year-old boy near the intersection of Regent Street and Maud Street Caloundra about 3pm yesterday. The boy was walking along Regent Street when an old style white van with a sliding side door and three chrome hubcaps pulled up alongside. The passenger exited the van and grabbed the boys arm. The victim was able to pull away and run for help. One man is described as about 34 years, stocky build, with a goatee and a tattoo on his right bicep a second man is described as being in his late 20’s, with ginger hair.

Murder charges, West End - Drowning, Burnett Heads - Armed robbery, Balmoral - Armed robbery, East Brisbane - Armed robbery, Mount Gravatt
Murder charges, West End: Police investigating the death of Graham James Robinson at Kurilpa Park on Thursday night have charged two men with murder. The men were located and interviewed yesterday and charged late last night. The two men aged 41 and 36, both of no fixed address, have been refused bail and will be appearing in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.

Man charged over Agnes Water shooting
A 57-year-old Agnes Water man will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow morning charged with numerous offences including murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Man located, Aspley: A man, believed to have information about the shooting death of a 42-year-old man at Agnes Water, was located last night at Aspley. The man, aged 57, was located by police on Gympie Road about 10.45pm. He is currently assisting police with inquiries.

Arson, Woodridge: Police are investigating a suspicious fire at Harris Fields Primary School at Woodridge yesterday afternoon. About 3.30pm, Queensland Fire and Rescue Service officers were called to the school after a fire was noticed in the music room. The fire was extinguished and scientific officers examined the scene. Initial investigations indicate the fire was deliberately lit.

Suspicious death, West End: Police are investigating the suspicious death of a 54-year-old man at West End last night. Just before 11pm, the man was located at Kurilpa Point with facial injuries. Queensland Ambulance officers attended however the man could not be revived. A post mortem will be conducted this morning. Police are seeking any witness to come forward.

Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident which has claimed the life of a Central Queensland man on Clonmel Road, Monto this morning.

The search for a missing 14-year-old boy is continuing this morning with police, State Emergency Service (SES) personnel and other volunteers scouring bushland in the Lowood and surrounding areas.

Sunshine Coast Water Police, in consultation with the State Search and Rescue Co-Ordinator, have terminated the sea search for the 24-year-old Victorian man who is believed to have jumped overboard a cruise ship in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Missing boy, Lowood: Police, State Emergency Service personnel and the Rescue 500 helicopter are this morning searching for a missing 14-year-old boy from Lowood. The boy was last seen at his address in Fairfield Road, Lowood, about 5.10pm yesterday. Police are concerned for the boy’s safety and welfare as he suffers from a serious medical condition that requires medication. The boy is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 170cm tall, 70kg, of proportionate to solid build and has short brown hair and distinctive teeth. He was last seen wearing a bright red t-shirt and blue boxer shorts with cartoon characters on them.

Police have charged a 32-year-old Rockhampton man with 50 fraud-related offences after fake cheques were allegedly used at a number of businesses along the Queensland coast.

Burglary with violence arrest, Inala - Truck breakdown, Wacol
Burglary with violence arrest, Inala: Two Inala men, aged 18 and 17, will appear in Richlands Magistrates Court this morning charged with a number of offences including burglary with violence, bodily harm, robbery and stealing. This follows an incident at a house in Taurus Street, Inala on Monday night where two men allegedly broke into the house, assaulted an 86-year-old woman and stole property.

Robbery, Slacks Creek: Police are investigating a robbery at a liquor store at Slacks Creek yesterday afternoon. At 5.20pm, two men entered The Fridge on Kingston Road and took some liquor from the store. The shop assistant confronted the two men and attempted to grab the liquor however one of the offenders produced a knife and threatened the shop assistant. The men then ran off towards Kingston Road. The male offenders are both described as being of Aboriginal appearance with one aged in his late 20s and the other aged over 30 years old.

One Water Police vessel continues to search the northen end of the Sunshine Coast for 24-year-old Andrew Mark Gready, who is believed to have jumped from a passenger cruise ship on Saturday morning.

Fatal traffic incident, Surfers Paradise - Armed robbery, Sunnybank - Armed robbery, Mt Tamborine - Rape and robbery arrest, Capalaba - Traffic delays, City
Fatal traffic incident, Surfers Paradise: Police are investigating a fatal traffic incident at Surfers Paradise yesterday afternoon. At 5.20pm, a motorcycle crashed into a parked vehicle on The Esplanade. The 24-year-old male rider of the motorcycle was transported to the Gold Coast Hospital however died shortly after arriving. A 17-year-old male pillion passenger sustained facial and head injuries. His injuries are not considered life threatening.

Armed robbery, Sunnybank: At 11.15pm yesterday, a man held up the Red Rooster at Market Square, Sunnybank. The man, armed with an axe, entered the store via a rear door and threatened the two male employees, aged 19 and 16. The man tied the hands of the 16-year-old male youth before demanding cash from the other employee. Before leaving the offender tied up the 19-year-old man before fleeing the store with a sum of money. The two male employees then managed to alert police. The male offender is described as being aged in his late 20s, 180cm tall, of average build, and was wearing a plain white baseball cap, black jacket with white cuffs showing, black pants, white sneakers, black gloves and had a black scarf wrapped around his face.

Searches today have again failed to locate the 24-year-old man who is believed to have jumped from a passenger cruise ship yesterday morning.

Search continues, Caloundra
Search continues, Caloundra: The search will continue this morning for a 24-year-old Victorian man, believed to have jumped from a passenger ship yesterday morning. About 2.10am, it is believed the man jumped from the vessel, which was approximately five nautical miles north-east of Caloundra. An air and sea search commenced shortly after, but was suspended late yesterday afternoon after failing to locate the man. Details surrounding the circumstances of the incident are still being investigated.

Search for man overboard, near Caloundra - Fatal traffic incident, Gin Gin - Armed robbery, Acacia Ridge - Murder arrest, Petrie Terrace - Home invasion arrests, Gordonvale
Search for man overboard, near Caloundra: An aerial and sea search is currently under way for a man who is believed to have fallen overboard from a passenger cruise ship about five nautical miles north-east of Caloundra. About 2.10am, a pilot was boarding the Brisbane-bound Pacific Sky when he noticed a person in the water. Staff immediately notified authorities and commenced a search for the 23-year-old Victorian man. A number of vessels and aircraft are currently involved in the search. Sunshine Coast Water Police is overseeing the search and AusSAR is co-coordinating the searching aircraft.

A 29-year-old man will appear in court charged with the rape and deprivation of liberty of a 29-year-old woman at the Gold Coast today.

Gold Coast detectives investigating the violent burglaries at Nerang on December 25 and Benowa on January 1 have released a comfit of an offender and a photo of a man who may be able to assist them with their inquiries.

Police have charged a woman following an incident in which a police officer was allegedly run over by a vehicle in Tully last night.

Unlawful killing, Petrie Terrace: Police are investigating the unlawful killing of a 31-year-old man in Petrie Terrace this morning. About 3.15am, there was a dispute in the taxi rank outside Harry’s Fine Foods in Petrie Terrace. The man was struck several times in the head and died on his way to hospital. Police would like to speak with three males and a female who left the scene in a Yellow Cab. Police are also appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. No further details are available at this stage.

Serious traffic incident, Margate: Police are investigating a serious traffic incident at Margate last night in which a pedestrian sustained a severe injury to her hand. About 7.15pm, a vehicle mounted the footpath while turning from Beaconsfield Street into Oxley Avenue. It struck a 48-year-old woman who had been walking south along Oxley Avenue. The woman was pinned to a brick wall and received a severe injury to her right hand. The woman was taken to Redcliffe Hospital for treatment. The vehicle and its driver remained at the scene. Inquiries by the Accident Investigation Squad are continuing.

Attempted robbery arrests, Broadbeach
Attempted robbery arrests, Broadbeach: Two men will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court later this month following an attempted robbery in Broadbeach last night. About 11pm, a 58-year-old man was walking across Surf Parade, Broadbeach, when a man allegedly struck him in the back of the head causing him to fall and hit his face on the road. The man’s glasses smashed in the fall, causing a deep laceration to his eye. Two men then allegedly demanded money from the man. Witnesses detained two men at the scene until police arrived. The men, aged 24 and 20 and both from Banora Point, were charged with one count each of attempted robbery with violence in company and assault occasioning bodily harm. They will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on January 20.

Assault arrest, Townsville - Fatal traffic incident, Redlynch (near Cairns)
Assault arrest, Townsville: A 24-year-old Cranbrook man will appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court today following an incident about 5pm yesterday in which a 43-year-old woman was approached and assaulted as she walked in Hugh Street, West End (Townsville). A passerby assisted the woman and the offender left the scene. The woman sustained cuts and bruising to her head and face and remained in the Townsville Hospital overnight. Police later located a man and charged him with assault occasioning bodily harm.

Fire, Boondall: Police are investigating the cause of a fire which destroyed tens of thousands of dollars worth of sports equipment at St Josephs College, Boondall yesterday. A passer-by noticed smoke coming from the sports shed at 6.30pm. He phoned emergency services however the shed and its contents were destroyed. The area was guarded overnight as a crime scene and investigations will continue today. Drug lab located, Spring Hill - Childers incident arrest
Drug lab located, Spring Hill: Six people will appear in court tomorrow charged with a series of drug related offences after police located a drug laboratory in the final stages of amphetamine production. Police intercepted a vehicle in Leichardt Street at 11pm last night which then led police to conduct a search of a motel room in Leichardt Street. A drug lab was allegedly located in the final stages of amphetamine production. The Illicit Laboratory Investigation Taskforce (ILIT) was called in to dismantle the lab. A large quantity of mobile phones was also seized. Four men, all from the Sunshine Coast and hinterland, and two women will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow to face drug charges including possession and production of dangerous drugs. Enquiries are continuing into a large amount of documentation found in the motel room.

Arson, Norman Park: Police scientific officers will today examine the scene of a suspicious unit fire at Norman Park last night. At 10.30pm, a security guard noticed a fire in a unit in McIlwraith Avenue. Queensland Fire and Rescue Service officers attended and extinguished the fire. Two rooms of the dwelling were extensively damaged. Investigations are continuing.
