Armed robbery, Murrumba Downs: Police are investigating an armed robbery at the Civic Video Store on Dohl Rocks Road at Murrumba Downs last night. At 8.45pm a man entered the store and produced a knife. The man demanded cash from a staff member and after being given a sum of money fled the store. The man is described as being 35 years old, 178cm tall, of slim build and had short untidy sandy coloured hair. At the time of the robbery the man was wearing baggy shorts and a dark coloured t-shirt.

A 43-year-old woman was killed in a single vehicle traffic accident at Granite Creek, south of Miriam Vale yesterday.

Armed in public/indecent assault, Bulimba: About 11.45pm last night, a 41-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, were walking along Oxford Street Bulimba when they were approached by a group of approximately six to eight male youths. At this time, one of the men indecently assaulted the 31-year-old woman. As the man and woman returned to their car in a nearby carpark, they noticed the group of youths near their car. The man and the youths engaged in a verbal altercation, before the two began to drive off. At this time, the two heard a loud smash at the back of their car. When they arrived at a nearby police station, they noticed a samurai type sword had been plunged into the rear window, causing it to smash. One of the offenders is described as being about 16 years of age, 160cm tall, of Middle Eastern appearance, with brown eyes and black hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt, three-quarter length baggy pants and sneakers.

A 10 metre fiberglass vessel exploded after it was refuelled this afternoon causing it to be engulfed by flames and injuring three men.

Police have arrested a 20-year-old man and a 25-year-old man following the sexual assault of a 22-year-old woman at Mt Coot-tha on September 17. 2004.

Murarrie arrests - House fire, Thangool
Murarrie arrests: A 24-year-old Murarrie man issued with an Notice to Appear for possess drug utensil, a 16-year-old Manly West girl was charged with serious assault and obstruct police and a 26-year-old Park Ridge man dealt with by drug diversion following an incident at Murarrie yesterday afternoon. Just before 4pm, police were called to a Railway Terrace, Murarrie address following reports of an armed person. Police attended the address and attempted to speak with two men. Both failed to comply with police and during a struggle involving all offenders, a police officer was seriously assaulted. The 16-year-old is expected to appear in the Brisbane Children’s Court this morning.

Victoria Police are seeking public assistance to locate a 74-year-old man missing since February 10, who they believe may be in Queensland.

Armed robbery, Everton Park: Police are investigating an armed robbery at the Ampol service station in Everton Park last night. About 8.45pm, a man possibly armed with a stick entered the store in Camelia Avenue and demanded money. After obtaining a sum of money, the man ran from the store in a southerly direction. The offender is described as Islander in appearance, 180-190cm, 20-30 years of age, with a black complexion, solid build and wearing white shorts with a flower print on the legs, a dark shirt or singlet and light green material around his head.

Three men charged over city assault: Three men, aged 19, 21 and 22, have been conjointly charged with one count of affray and common assault following an incident yesterday afternoon outside Parliament House. The 22-year-old man was also charged with committing an indecent act and the 21-year-old man was charged with possession of a dangerous drug namely cannabis. All three were bailed to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on March 10.

Drug and weapon offences arrest - Armed robbery, Coopers Plains
Drug and weapon offences arrest: A 37-year-old Annerley man will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning on 18 drug and weapon charges. The man was arrested last night at his home about 8.55pm and charged with six serious drug charges including possession of dangerous drugs, namely heroin, cannabis, methadone and ecstasy. He was also charged with 12 weapon act offences including possession of weapons and keeping loaded firearms. He was taken to the Brisbane Watchhouse and remanded in custody.

Two people will appear in court today charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and other related matters following an incident at Windsor this morning.

Robbery – Mobil service station, Toowoomba: Between 9.40pm and 9.50pm last night, a man has entered the Mobil service station on West Street, Toowoomba. He attempted to buy a packet of cigarettes by EFTPOS. The transaction was refused and he left the store. About 10 minutes later he returned and verbally threatened the counter attendant. He left the store on foot with a some of money and some cigarettes. The offender is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 30 years old, with a fair complexion and a slim build, is about 180 cm tall and has brown hair. He was wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans, a grey zipped up jacket with long sleeves and a baseball cap with grey across the top and white stripes.

Attempted murder arrest Cooktown: A 30-year-old man has been charged with one count of attempted murder, three counts of break and enter, one count of assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed, two counts of obstructing police, three counts of breaching a domestic violence order and one count of possessing a utensil, following an altercation with a 33-year-old woman at 9.30pm last night at an address on Kerr Street, Cooktown. He will appear in the Cooktown Magistrates Court this morning.

Armed hold up, Bray Park Newsagency: About 5.20pm yesterday a man entered the newsagency on Ellerdale Street and threatened the counter attendant with a knife. He stole a sum of money and some magazines. He left on foot and was last seen walking down Ellerdale Street then into Navua Street. He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, with a tanned complexion, is 180cm tall, with light brown curly hair, has acne on his forehead and discoloured front teeth.

Suspicious fire, Brisbane City: Police will today continue investigations into a suspicious fire at a travel agency in Roma Street. About 3.15am QFRA officers attended the office and quickly extinguished a small fire however extensive smoke and water damage was caused. Initial investigations suggest that entry had been forced to the premises prior to the fire.

Suspicious fire, Gympie
Suspicious fire, Gympie: About 8.40pm yesterday police and QFRA were advised of a fire in a building in Hyne Street. QFRA units attended the scene and quickly extinguished the fire however substantial damage had been caused. Initial investigations suggest the cause of the fire is suspicious. Police scenes of crime officers, detectives and QFRA fire investigators will re-attend the building this morning to continue investigations and determine the cause of the blaze.

Murder arrests, Brisbane City: Two men have been charged over the murder of Paul Bernard Markham on Sunday morning. An 18-year-old Carseldine man has been charged with murder, robbery with violence and stealing from the person and will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning. A second 19-year-old man also from Carseldine has been charged with one count of stealing from the person. He has been bailed to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on March 3rd.

Armed robbery, Booval: About 6.55pm yesterday a man wearing a home made balaclava and armed with a large knife entered the Network Video outlet on Station Road. The man threatened the staff and left the store with a sum on money. He is described as being in his 20s and was wearing a blue shirt.

Suspicious caravan fire, Blackwater - Missing woman located, Birkdale
Suspicious caravan fire, Blackwater: Police will this morning continue investigations into a suspicious fire in Umbrella Street. About 10.40pm yesterday, neighbours alerted the owner of the caravan that it was on fire. QFRA officers attended the scene and quickly extinguished the blaze but the caravan was destroyed. The caravan was not occupied at the time of the fire and did not have electricity connected. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Assault and robbery, Ferny Grove: A 22-year-old man was assaulted and robbed by two men as he walked home on Ferny Way at Ferny Grove this morning. At 1.30am the man noticed two men following him near Samford Road. As he walked past the Ferny Hill phone exchange he was hit on the head from behind. One of the two men grabbed his backpack and dragged the man away from the street, behind an industrial bin. The offenders have searched through his backpack and taken money and sunglasses. The man received minor injuries. One of the offenders is described as being in his late to early teens, Caucasian, about 183cm, with a solid build, and short shaved hair. He wore clean jeans, ‘skaters’ shoes, blue shirt with white writing on it and a khaki cap. The second man is also Caucasian and was wearing khaki pants. Anyone with information about the identity of these offenders should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Serious traffic incident, Narangba: A 16-year-old girl is in a critical and unstable condition at the Royal Brisbane Hospital after a two vehicle collision yesterday on Potasium Street, Narangba. At 4.50pm one of the vehicles, a sedan, turned from Nickel Street onto Potasium Street and collided with a 4WD. The 19-year-old driver of the 4WD received medical treatment but has no serious injuries. The Accident Investigation Squad is investigating the incident.

Attempted armed robbery, Annandale (Townsville): Police are investigating the attempted armed robbery of a service station in Annandale last night. About 6.05pm, a man armed with a syringe containing red liquid entered the Mobil service station in University Road and demanded cigarettes and money. Before he could obtain any money, the console operator’s dog chased the man from the store. The man then entered the front passenger side of a maroon Holden sedan which was driven from the scene.

Police have charged a 23-year-old man with attempted murder following an incident in Toowoomba this morning.

Armed robbery arrest, Mount Gravatt
Armed robbery arrest, Mount Gravatt: Police have charged a man with armed robbery following an incident in Mount Gravatt last night. About 8.30pm, a 49-year-old woman was walking down an alley beside the Commonwealth Bank in Logan Road when a man allegedly confronted her and demanded her handbag. During the incident, the woman was allegedly cut with a knife causing wounds to her arm and fingers. A number of witnesses chased the man from the scene. A short time later, police located a man nearby. The 29-year-old from Mount Gravatt East will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today. He has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, unlawful wounding, go armed to cause fear and common assault.

Fatal tractor incident, Willow Vale: Police are investigating a fatal tractor incident which occurred on a property at Willow Vale yesterday. About 6.45pm, a 57-year-old man was found deceased on a rural property west of the Gold Coast. The man was pinned under an overturned tractor which was partially submerged in a creek. He had last been seen using a tractor slasher on the property about 11.50am and was found by a family member who went looking for him.

Armed robbery, Tallai: Police are investigating the armed robbery of the Tallai Country Club Golf Club last night. About 10.15pm, two men smashed a large window to gain entry to the club in Panorama Street. The two men, one armed with a firearm, than accosted a club employee and demanded money. The male employee was punched in the head before being forced to open the club’s safe. After obtaining a significant amount of money from the safe, the offenders bound the employee and stole his wallet. Both offenders had shirts around their faces. The employee was taken to Tweed Heads Hospital with bruising to his eye. Investigations are continuing.

Attempted murder, East Brisbane: Police are investigating the attempted murder of a 47-year-old man at a house in Vulture Street, East Brisbane about 9.30 last night. The victim suffered severe head and chest injuries during an altercation with another man who resided with the victim. The victim dialled 000 for help during the attack. The offender had fled the scene when police arrived. The man was transported to Princess Alexandra hospital and is listed as critical but stable. It is not known at this stage if any weapon was used in the attack.

Suspicious fire, Blacksoil: The owner of a business on the Warrego Highway, at Blacksoil, (near Marburg), arrived for work at 9.00am yesterday and found the building had been set alight. The rear door of the shed had been jemmied open to gain entry. There was structural and smoke damage to all areas of the shed. Investigations are continuing.

Motorists traveling on the Logan Motorway at Loganholme are advised to expect delays due to an excavator breaking down and blocking southbound lanes.

Armed robbery, Coopers Plains: About 8pm last night a man entered the Choice service station at the corner of Boundary Road and Orange Grove Road, Coopers Plains armed with a knife. He threatened the attendant and ran from the store after being handed a quantity of money and was last seen running along Orange Grove Road towards Nathan. The offender is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 18 to 23 years, slim build, 188cm, with a goatee beard and brown collar length hair. He wore a black shirt, knee length jeans a white baseball cap, bum bag, and thongs. Anyone with information on the identity of the offender should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Armed robbery, New Farm: A man walking along Moray Street, New Farm about 8pm last night was approached by a man armed with a knife. He threatened the man and demanded he hand over his black back-pack containing a laptop computer and camera. The man took the back-pack and was last seen heading east along Moray Street. He is described as Caucasian, 180cm tall, slim build, tanned complexion with short brown hair and a goatee beard. The man was wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans.

Armed robbery, Townsville: A man armed with a knife and baseball bat robbed the Caltex Service Station in Warburton Street, North Ward about 1.45am today. The man smashed a front glass panel of the service station after the console operator initially refused him entry. Once inside the offender stole a sum of cash and left the scene on foot heading towards the intersection of Redpath and Warburton Streets. The man is described as of Aboriginal appearance, 172cms tall, of medium build and wearing a piece of cloth over his face.

Missing person, Forest Lake: Police are seeking public assistance in the search for a 78-year-old man missing since last night in the Forest Lake area. Percy Mulvy was last seen when he left the McDonald’s restaurant in Forest Lake at 6.30pm to walk to his daughter’s home in nearby Moran Crescent. Mr Mulvy is visiting from England and arrived in Queensland on January 29 to stay with his daughter. The family ate at MacDonald’s last night and Mr Mulvy said he would like to walk the one kilometre home but did not arrive. Mr Mulvy is described as being reasonably fit, 158cms tall, medium to solid build, balding grey hair, moustache and with a fair complexion. He was wearing a green, olive and cream vertically striped shirt and dark jeans.

Attempted abduction, Herston: Police are investigating the attempted abduction of a 7-year-old girl in Butterfield Street, Herston about 5.30pm yesterday. The girl and a teenager were riding their bikes along Butterfield Street when a man blocked the younger girl’s path and attempted to grab her. The teenager, who was following behind on her bike, screamed at the man who then walked away. He is described as Caucasian, 175cms tall and of slim build.
