Missing Kuraby man
Police are concerned for a 41-year-old Kuraby man who has not been seen since yesterday.

Armed Robbery, Toowoomba - Arrest, Sunnybank Hills - Arrest, Donnybrook
Armed Robbery, Toowoomba: Around 5.15pm yesterday two men entered the Big Dad’s Pie store in James Street armed with a knife and demanded money from the female shop assistant.  A third man kept watch in James Street.  A bag of money was given to one of the men and they both left the store running west on James Street and then into private property heading towards Eton Street.  A witness has spotted the men get into a cream coloured Toyota sedan and drive south on Hume Street.  The first man is described as around 18 years old, wearing a black jumper with double white stripes down the sleeves and ‘homey’ style jeans.  The second man is described as wearing a white jumper and dark jeans and the third man was wearing a light blue striped jumper and ‘homey’ style jeans and a light blue cap.

Police wish to advise a man was found deceased in a vehicle in Carbrook late yesterday afternoon.

Police advise motorists that they may face delays this morning at the intersection of Boundary Road and Kelliher Road Inala.

Police are appealing for information about the whereabouts of Peter Thomas who was last seen at a residence at Thornlands.

Caboolture CIB is investigating the stabbing of a man and woman at Donnybrook late this afternoon.

Armed robbery, Rockhampton: Around 7.40pm a man believed to be armed with a syringe walked into the CQ Day and Night Pharmacy on the Corner of Denham and Alma Streets Rockhampton and demanded drugs.  When his demands were refused he grabbed several packs of Sudafed tablets and fled the store.  He was last seen driving away in an older model car with a registration number starting with 124.  The man is described as possibly Caucasian, around 173cm tall and was wearing dark shorts and a balaclava around his mouth area.

Man stabbed in brawl, Redcliffe - Street disturbance, Crestmead - Police vehicle damaged at large party in Cairns - Clandestine laboratory located on Hamilton Island - Forced landing, North of Rockhampton - Man swept off rocks, North Stradbroke Island
Man stabbed in brawl, Redcliffe: Two men were assaulted and a parked car was damaged during a brawl at Woody Point last night. About 11.30pm five or six men tried gate-crashing an 18th birthday party on Hornibrook Esplanade. They were refused entry but returned later with four more men. One of the men was seen smashing the windows of a parked car, while another tore out a letterbox and threw it at the car’s front window. Patrons from the party approached the group of men in the front yard and a fight broke out. A 37-year-old man was stabbed in the torso with an unknown object. The 50-year-old owner of the house was also struck over the head a number of times. The offenders fled the scene. Ambulance officers transported the 37-year-old man to the Redcliffe Hospital and treated the 50-year-old man’s head injuries at the scene. Their injuries are considered life threatening. The 10 offenders were of Islander appearance.

Serious traffic incident, Jimna - Attempted robbery, Coorparoo - Fatal traffic incident, Craiglie (Port Douglas) - Stabbing, Corinda - Assault police arrest, Mackay - Serious assault arrest, Ferny Grove
Serious traffic incident, Jimna: A 43-year-old woman from Cornubia and a 57-year-old Broadbeach Waters man remain in the Royal Brisbane Hospital following an accident at Jimna via Kilcoy yesterday.  The two were competing in a car club rally when it appears they lost control around a corner and ran into a tree along the Forestry Number One Road around 4pm.  Fire officers cut the occupants from their vehicle before the woman received lifesaving surgery from a doctor attached to the Rescue 500 helicopter.  Ambulance officers also assisted in treating the man and woman for chest injuries at the scene before both were flown to Brisbane, where the woman remains in a critical condition.  Accident Investigation Squad officers will return to the scene today to conduct further investigations.

A police officer has been issued with a Notice to Appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on March 13 to face a charge of attempting to break and enter premises and possession of a dangerous drug (methyl amphetamine).

The Queensland Police Service’s Ethical Standards Command (ESC) is investigating the circumstances surrounding an incident at Coalfalls last night where a 23-year-old man was fatally shot by police.

A man has been taken to Ipswich Hospital after being shot by police when they responded to a disturbance at William Street Coalfalls, near Ipswich a short time ago.

Fatal traffic incident, Mango Hill: A 20-year-old man from Griffin has died after the motorcycle he was riding hit a guard rail on Anzac Avenue. The incident happened at 6.30pm at the intersection with Discovery Drive. Two outbound lanes are open to traffic in both directions.

Detectives have charged a 38-year-old man in relation to a fatal house fire at Annerley on Monday.

School bus collision, Gailes - Suspicious fire, Thornlands - Attempted armed robbery, Warwick - Serious traffic incident, Townsville - Arrest, Fortitude Valley
School bus collision, Gailes: Police will continue their investigations into the cause of the collision between a car and a school bus at Gailes yesterday.  The incident occurred around 3.20pm at the intersection of Newman Road and the Ipswich Motorway Service Road.  Early investigations suggest the bus driver continued through a give way sign at the intersection of Newman Road and collided with a commodore travelling along the Service Road.  Primary School children from St Francis Xavier School and the Goodna State School were on the bus at the time of the collision.  A female child and the 64-year-old male bus driver were transported to the Ipswich Hospital with possible neck injuries.  The other 14 children were checked and treated at the scene and allowed to leave with their parents.  The occupants of the Commodore were also taken to the Ipswich Hospital.  The 34-year-old male driver was treated for a suspected fractured sternum, his pregnant wife has a possible fractured arm and their two children, a six-year-old female and a five-year-old male suffered bruising to their chests from their seatbelts but were otherwise uninjured.  The bus has been impounded for mechanical inspections and police will continue taking statements from witnesses today.

Man charged after driving away from court, Holland Park
A 31-year-old Tarragindi man has been charged for allegedly driving away from the Holland Park Magistrates Court after having his driver’s licence disqualified.

Police wish to advise a 20-year-old man from Broadbeach who was involved in a traffic incident at Main Beach yesterday has died.

Search for missing swimmer, Surfers Paradise: The search for a 17-year-old Melbourne man missing in the surf at Surfers Paradise since yesterday will continue at first light today.  The young man was last seen around 12.30pm by his brother and two friends when they left the water. The missing man indicated he would continue swimming and was last seen in chest deep water.  When he hadn’t returned to the beach and couldn't be seen in the water a lifeguard was notified.  A search of the area conducted by helicopter, jet skis and patrols of the beach failed to locate the man.  The search ceased about six last night due to diminishing light.

It has been confirmed there are no survivors from the helicopter crash north of Mount Isa.

Two men have been charged in relation to two separate robberies in Surfers Paradise between 3am and 4am today.

Missing helicopter, Mount Kelly:  The search by AUSSAR will continue today after last night’s search did not locate the helicopter containing four occupants. Four helicopters and two fixed wing aircrafts will begin searching the Mount Kelly area, approximately 100km north of Mount Isa, at first light. The missing aircraft, containing a 28-year-old female pilot and three male passengers failed to return to Mount Isa airport by 7:30 last night as scheduled. The helicopter was fitted with crash activated EPIRB but AUSSAR indicate there was no activation of any emergency beacons in the area.

Scuba diving death, Cairns - Climber injured, Glasshouse Mountains - Break and enter, McDowall - Assault occasioning bodily harm, Strathpine
Scuba diving death, Cairns: A 64-year-old US national died yesterday when scuba diving at Saxon Reef. About 5pm, the man experienced unknown difficulties and has come to the surface. He was pulled from the water and had no pulse and was not breathing. CPR was performed for about an hour but without success. The body was then transported to Cairns by helicopter.

Search and rescue, Daintree: A search by police and State Emergency Service volunteers will commence at first light today for a man and two 13-year-old boys who failed to return from a pig-shooting expedition in bushland near Stewarts Creek Road, Upper Daintree. The three were reported overdue yesterday when they left their start point at 6.15am, but failed to return to their vehicle at 9.30am as expected. It is believed the group does not have food or provisions for an extended stay in bushland and do not have any communication devices on them. The mother of one of the children reported the group overdue. Four locals searched the area by foot and trail bike yesterday without locating them.

An 18-year-old man has been charged following the assault of two police officers on Palm Island this morning.

Police car damaged, Reedy Creek: A police vehicle sustained major damage while attending a traffic incident at Reedy Creek about 6am. Police had been called to a single vehicle traffic incident on the on-ramp to the Pacific Motorway. The police vehicle was parked with emergency lights operating behind a tow truck. The tow truck which also had its emergency lights on was parked behind a vehicle which had collided with a guard rail. A sedan travelling down the on-ramp has then collided with the rear of the police vehicle, forcing it into the rear of the tow truck. The police officers were not in the vehicle at the time. The driver and passenger of the sedan received minor injuries. Investigations have confirmed police at the scene had complied with service policy in relation to the circumstances.

Arrest, Beerburrum - Drink driving arrest, Grange - Serious traffic incident, Clayfield - Arrest, Toowoomba - Stolen vehicle with violence, Southport - Fatal motorcycle incident, Broadbeach
Arrest, Beerburrum: A 32-year-old man has been charged with one count enter dwelling with intent and one count grievous bodily harm with intent. The charges relate to the assault of a woman in her residence at Endeavour Rd, Beerburrum, yesterday. It’s alleged the man hit the woman’s legs with an aluminum baseball bat and punched her in the head several times. She sustained a fractured leg and was taken to Nambour General Hospital for treatment. The man will appear in Caloundra Magistrates Court on March 14.

Assault charges, Fortitude Valley - Drug lab located, Gatton
Assault charges, Fortitude Valley: Two men, aged 23 and 20 have been issued a notice to appear following the assault of two men overnight. About 1.30am, police were called to a disturbance outside an Ann Street nightclub. It is alleged a 26-year-old man was knocked to the ground and kicked in the head and body by two men. A 25-year-old man was then allegedly punched and kicked as he attempted to assist the man. As the injured pair began to walk away, the 26-year-old was then allegedly struck from behind. Both were transported to the Royal Brisbane Hospital for injuries including bruising and swelling to the nose and face. Two men were located a short time later in Fortitude Valley and were issued a notice to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on February 31.

Off duty police officer on drink driving charge
A 35-year-old off duty police sergeant from Townsville has been issued with a notice to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Monday to face a charge of driving with a blood alcohol reading of .149.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested by police after allegedly being disturbed in the ceiling cavity of the Coles Supermarket, Wembley Road Logan overnight.

Armed robbery, Glasshouse Mountains: Police are investigating an armed robbery at the Glasshouse Mountains yesterday. About 9pm, a man armed with a rifle entered the Glasshouse Village Café on Reed Street and confronted the store attendant. He demanded the store takings and when the store attendant refused, fled on foot. He is described as being around 20-30 years of age, approximately 170-175cm tall, stocky build, with an Australian accent. He was wearing a black and white child’s horror mask, blue long sleeve overalls and black gloves with white tipped fingers.

Fatal traffic incident, Yandina - Serious traffic incident, near Esk - Serious traffic incident, Oxenford - Suspected drowning, Coolum Beach
Fatal traffic incident, Yandina: A 27-year-old man was killed this afternoon in a two vehicle traffic incident at Yandina. The incident, involving a utility and a truck, occurred about 5pm on the Old Bruce Highway. The driver of the utility died at the scene while the 32-year-old male driver of the truck received minor injuries. Accident Investigation Squad officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal traffic incident.

Armed robbery, Pacific Paradise: Police are investigating an armed robbery which occurred at the Civic Video store on Menzies Drive, Pacific Paradise last night. About 9:10pm, a female sales attendant was approached by man brandishing a large knife. He pointed the knife at the woman and demanded money from the cash register. She placed a quantity of money in a plastic bag and handed it over to the offender. He then asked her to open the safe but she replied she refused and he has walked out of the store. The woman was not harmed during this incident. The offender is described as being 175cm tall, of a solid build and was wearing a black sports jacket. His head and face were covered by a balaclava.

Serious traffic incident, Innisfail: A 43-year-old man has sustained life threatening injuries following a single vehicle traffic incident near Innisfail last night. Initial investigations suggest at 6.55pm, 400 metres north of Johnstone River Bridge on the Bruce Highway, a sedan, carrying a man and a woman, has left the road and crashed into a large palm tree. The car was travelling north on the Bruce Highway at the time. The male passenger has been impaled in the car. He sustained severe lower leg, abdominal and head injuries and was taken to Townsville Hospital for treatment. The 31-year-old female driver sustained lacerations and facial injuries which are not considered life threatening. She has been taken to Cairns Base Hospital for treatment. Investigations are continuing.

Fraud charges, Mount Morgan - Drug laboratory charges, Hervey Bay - Body of man found, Monduran Dam - Armed robbery, Burleigh Heads - Traffic incident, Cardwell
Fraud charges, Mount Morgan: A 48-year-old woman and 53-year-old man, both from Mount Morgan, have been charged with fraudulently obtaining personal items with funds from the Mount Morgan Aboriginal Corporation. Police began investigations in October 2004 and the woman was charged today with 39 counts of fraud and one count of arson and the man was charged with 20 counts of fraud and one count of arson. The arson charge relates to a fire in August 2001 at a rental property belonging to the Corporation

A 53-year-old man has been charged with one count each of possession of a shot gun and shortening of a shot gun following an incident at the Hydeaway Bay Caravan Park, Whitsundays yesterday.

Pedestrian killed, Curra near Maryborough:  A 54-year-old Curra man was killed last night when he was struck by a truck on the Bruce Highway. Preliminary investigations indicate that about 7pm an articulated truck, travelling north about one kilometre from the David Drive turnoff, hit the man standing in the middle of the road. The man died at the scene. Accident Investigation Squad officers are examining the circumstances surrounding the fatal traffic incident.

Major traffic incident, Gin Gin, west of Bundaberg: The Bruce Highway is expected to be closed in both directions until at least midday today after an incident involving three semi-trailers. The incident happened about 12.50pm last night, 35kms north of Gin Gin on a stretch of road known locally as the ‘Big Dipper’. One of the truck drivers has been taken to Bundaberg Hospital, another taken to the Gin Gin Hospital and the third driver suffered minor injuries. Motorists, except for heavy vehicles, are being asked to use the coast road between Bundaberg and Agnes Waters to avoid the Bruce Highway. An alternative route for heavy vehicles is through Biloela.

Man arrested for rape, Paddington: A 24-year-old Sandgate man has been charged over an alleged sexual assault in Paddington on Saturday morning. It’s alleged a 30-year-old woman was raped in the skate park at the intersection of Hale and Caxton Streets. The charges include one count of deprivation of liberty, one count of assault occasioning bodily harm and two counts of rape. The man is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.

Fatal traffic accident, Labrador: At 6.50pm at the intersection of Brisbane Road and Loder Street a 59-year-old woman from Biggera Waters was hit by a van and died in Southport Hospital. Early investigations indicate the woman was crossing the road, when the pedestrian crossing light was red. The van was driven by a 17-year-old Labrador man. The Accident Investigation Squad is investigating.

Murder charge, Cooktown: This afternoon police charged a 23–year-old man with murder over the alleged stabbing of a 40-year-old man during a fight in Hartwig Street, Wujal Wujal last night. The man will be transported to Cairns and is expected to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court either tomorrow or Tuesday.

Assault of police, Zillmere: A 24-year-old man was arrested following a fight in the car park of the 7-Eleven store on the corner of Handford Road and Zillmere Road, Zillmere this morning. Police conducting patrols around 1.15 found two men fighting. One of the men left the scene in a vehicle and he was later located at a Zillmere address. A knife was found in the vehicle. The man was charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count each of possession of a knife and obstructing police. He was bailed to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on March 1.

Serious traffic accident, Nerang: A 31-year-old Nerang woman has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, fail to provide a specimen and drive on a learners permit unaccompanied. It relates to an incident involving a pedestrian that happened outside a residence on Kenneth Drive, Highland Park about 4.45pm. A 54-year-old woman is in a serious but stable condition at the Gold Coast Hospital.

Fatal, Miriwinni - Child sex offence charges, Rockhampton
Fatal, Miriwinni: A 21-year-old man from Miriwinni died this afternoon as a result of injuries sustained in a traffic incident on Friday evening. It is believed the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was travelling east along Bramston Beach Road when the vehicle left the road and hit a concrete drain. The vehicle flipped several times before coming to rest in a cane field. The man received head and spinal injuries during the incident and was taken to Townsville Hospital where he was pronounced dead just before 5pm this evening.

Liquor store arrest, Moorooka: A 28-year-old woman has been arrested for the alleged armed robbery of the Liquor King store, on Beaudesert Road, Moorooka on February 4. The woman allegedly produced a syringe and apologised to the attendant as she demanded money from him. Police patrolling in Indooroopilly today noticed a woman fitting the description of the person police were seeking and she was taken into custody. This afternoon she was charged with one count each of armed robbery, enter with intent, going armed as to cause fear and deprivation of liberty. She will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday, February 13.

Fatal accident, Bloomsbury: A man driving a utility has died after colliding with a semi-trailer about 70 kms north of MacKay. The accident happened about 1.10am on the Bruce Highway, 500 metres south of Bloomsbury. The 46-year-old driver of the truck from Kallangur was not injured. The Accident Investigation Squad is at the scene. The identity of the deceased man has not been confirmed at this stage.

Suspicious incident, McDowall: Police are investigating claims made by a 14-year-old girl that a man tried to coerce her into his vehicle this afternoon. The girl stated that at 4.20pm she was walking along Old Northern Road, McDowall, when a man driving a small faded black sedan pulled up next to her and asked her if she wanted a ride. She kept walking and the vehicle followed her, before it stopped, and again the man asked if she wanted a ride. The girl said no and he drove away. The man is described as approximately 30 years old, has brown hair in a crew cut, and was unshaven. He has a silver stud in his lower lip, and was wearing a dark coloured singlet. The incident occurred beside the north bound lanes of Old Northern Road, outside Steve Jones Hardware. Police are urging any motorists who may have seen something suspicious at that location to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Assault, Inala - Serious assault, Maryborough - Man armed with knives, Inala
Assault, Inala: About 7.30pm yesterday a man was driving along Sycamore Street, Inala when two men walked in front of in his car. After stopping, he was dragged from his vehicle and assaulted by the men, who stole property including a wallet and mobile phone. The 46-year-old Durack man managed to drive himself home. He was later taken to the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital, where he lapsed into unconsciousness. He has since regained consciousness and has described the offenders as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander appearance.

The driver of the vehicle has slowly followed the child and attempted to grab her when she stopped, but did not make contact. The girl kept riding and the driver has again leaned out of the vehicle, this time grabbing her backpack. The 11-year-old has kicked the front wheel of the vehicle hoping to damage it. A male passenger has leaned across and appeared to unlock the back right hand passenger door. The girl screamed and the vehicle drove off. The girl has gone home and alerted her parents who reported it to police.

Armed robbery, Palm Beach Jewellers: A robber bashed a female sales assistant with a steel bar before stealing a large sum of jewellery on the Gold Coast this afternoon. About 2.15pm the man entered the Jeweller’s Workshop Gallery on Pillippine Parade in Palm Beach, assaulted the employee, smashed a display cabinet and stole an assortment of rings, watches and bracelets. The offender was last seen getting into their getaway car, a grey Nissan NX coupe. The sales assistant suffered swelling to the back of the head. The offenders is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall with a solid build and blond hair. He was wearing blue jeans, white sneakers with a blue stripe, a blue and white checked long sleeved shirt and a light blue baseball cap.

Drowning, Maroochydore: A 45-year-old New South Wales man has drowned while swimming at Mudjimba Beach on the Sunshine Coast. The man was pulled from the surf about 5.30pm yesterday however Queensland Ambulance Service officers were unable to revive him. It is believed the man was not a strong swimmer and may have become distressed when caught in a strong rip. The man was on the Sunshine Coast attending a work conference at the Twin Waters Resort. There were no lifesavers on duty at the time of the drowning.

Attempted murder, Nanango: A man has been charged with attempting to murder his wife after allegedly firing a shotgun at her. Just before midday yesterday the couple was involved in an argument at their home in Nanango, about 100km north-west of Brisbane. As the woman ran from the house her 56-year-old husband allegedly fired the shotgun once, wounding her in the back of the legs, shoulder and head. She was driven by another person to the hospital in Nanango and later transferred to Kingaroy. The 55-year-old woman was released from hospital around 5.00pm. The man has been charged with attempted murder and numerous weapons offences. He will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates court later today

The boy reportedly fled when the woman woke up and chased him out of the unit.

The 23-year-old man was charged with one count each of grievous bodily harm, enter dwelling with intent to commit an indictable offence, attempted robbery with violence and two counts of enter dwelling and steal. One of the charges of enter dwelling and steal relates to a separate complaint that a home in West Street was entered on November 29 and cash and property stolen. Missing man located, Bowen: Missing Bowen man David John Thompson has been located safe and well. He was found by SES personnel about 6 this morning, walking along the Bruce Highway, eight kilometres south of Guthalungra.  Mr Thompson, 59, was last seen on Wednesday night walking towards the Elliott River Campsite at Guthalungra, approximately 46kms north of Bowen when it appears he became disorientated.

Child hit by car, Bundaberg:  A seven-year-old girl is in a serious condition after being struck by a car while riding her bicycle. Around 6.20pm yesterday the girl was in the front yard of her home in Pecton Place, Bundaberg when she rode onto the road and into the path of an oncoming car. The car was being driven very slowly at the time of the collision and there was no damage to the car or bike. It appears the child sustained her injuries when she hit the back of her head on the ground. Initially it was thought her injuries were only minor however her condition had worsened by the time she arrived at the hospital.

Dangerous driving arrest, Lota: Two men were arrested after a short pursuit through the bayside suburb of Lota yesterday. The vehicle allegedly failed to stop and led police on a chase through surrounding streets. The utility was eventually abandoned in Villiers Street and the two occupants attempted to flee on foot but were detained by Police. Cannabis crop located, Maryborough: Police located over 300 mature cannabis plants at a property in Maryborough this morning while responding to reports of suspicious behaviour. Police discovered the plants and an extensive irrigation system inside a Teddington Road property about 8am. Two men aged 34 and 39 were arrested and charged this afternoon with producing and possessing a dangerous drug and possessing things used in connection with a crime. Both men were bailed to appear in the Maryborough Magistrates Court on February 21.

Assault on police, Killarney: Three people were arrested last night after allegedly becoming involved in an altercation with police. Officers stopped the three males on the Killarney Warwick Road about 6.00pm after responding to complaints about the group allegedly damaging property and drinking alcohol on the road. They became aggressive and one of the youths allegedly produced a knife and threatened to stab the police. The youths, aged 16, 18 and 20, were taken into custody and will appear in Warwick Magistrates Court today charged with various offences including serious assault, going armed in company and willful damage. The two officers suffered minor head and hand injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.

Attempted arson, Acacia Ridge: Police are looking for the offender/s that lit a fire at the Elizabeth Street Medical Centre at Acacia Ridge overnight. At 1.10am it appears someone put the centre’s doormat into a cardboard box and set it alight at the front of the building. The fire was only small and police extinguished it just before fire crews arrived. Luckily, the damage was minimal, and only the wooden door frame was burnt.
