| Arrest for going armed in public, Ipswich: An 18-year-old Ipswich man has been charged with two counts of going armed in public and one count each of attempted armed robbery, possess knife in public, attempted unlawful entry to a motor vehicle and obstruct police, after he allegedly approached people at random armed with a knife and a broken bottle in Ipswich CBD yesterday. Just after 5.40pm it is alleged he tried to get into a woman’s car while she was parked in Limestone Street, but the woman locked the doors and drove off. In a separate incident, the man allegedly approached a man in the carpark outside Autobarn on Limestone Street, threatening him with a broken bottle and demanding his car keys. The victim was able to thwart the offender and alert police. The man will appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court today. |
