Aurukun disturbance update Inquiries are continuing into the disturbance at Aurukun last night which caused extensive damage to the police station, canteen, shop and other buildings and police vehicles.

Morning round up January 10 Armed robbery, Inala: Police are investigating the armed robbery of a convenience store on Magnolia Street Inala overnight.  Around 8pm two men entered the Kontiki Korner Store armed with knives.  The men demanded money from the store owners and ran off heading east along Magnolia Street with the day’s takings.  The men were described as being Caucasian and between 18 to 20 years of age.  When last seen both men had shirts wrapped around their heads and were wearing gloves.

Crocodile attacks off duty police officer An off duty police officer from Thursday Island has been attacked by a crocodile estimated to be more than three metres long near Adolphus Island in The Torres Strait.

Afternoon round up Witnesses to fatal traffic incident sought: Police are seeking witnesses to a fatal traffic incident that killed a 58-year-old Wynnum man at Wynnum on December 31. At 6.20pm, the man died after the pushbike he was riding collided with a car on a roundabout on Wynnum Road, Wynnum. Police are appealing for the driver of a 4WD, possibly grey in colour, reportedly at the roundabout at the time of the incident to contact police. The occupants of the vehicle are asked to contact the Accident Investigation Squad on 3364 3311.
