Road closures, Constable Brett Irwin’s funeral

The funeral for Constable Brett Irwin, who was tragically killed at Keperra last week, will be held at St Stephens Cathedral on Elizabeth Street this morning.

Significant congestion and delays can be expected in the City and at Hemmant due to the funeral procession for Constable Irwin.

Between 9am and 1pm there will be no parking on Elizabeth Street between Edward and Creek streets, on Creek Street between Elizabeth and Queen streets, and on Adelaide Street between Queen and Wharf streets.

From 10am one lane of traffic will be open to motorists on Elizabeth Street but the road will be closed from 12pm along with the outbound lanes on Eagle Street to allow the funeral procession to leave St Stephens Cathedral.

As the procession travels to Hemmant, motorists can expect short delays on the Story Bridge and on Wynnum Road.

Motorists are thanked for their assistance during this time.
