Afternoon Round-up, second edition

Stolen detonators, Toowoomba: Police are concerned for the welfare of the person or people who have stolen two railway detonators from a station area at Toowoomba. The detonators were reported stolen this afternoon, however it is unknown when they were taken. The detonators are a circular plastic red or orange disc, with metal clasps on the bottom to secure it to the rail head. Police are warning anyone who may see the detonators not to touch them as they can be highly dangerous, and to report the find immediately.

Deceased infant, Toowoomba: The Child Protection and Investigation Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an infant in Toowoomba this afternoon. About 3.30pm police were alerted to the incident, after the six-month-old girl was found in a car outside a school on Ramsay Street. Examinations will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Drug charge, Mackay: Ten people were charged today on over 20 drug and firearm related offences during Operation Execute in Mackay. Approximately 23 cannabis plants, 500 grams of cannabis leaf, utensils and firearms were located after Mackay District Tactical Crime Squad with assistance from local police executed search warrants on a number of rural properties in the Pioneer Valley area. The charges included four counts of producing a dangerous drug, 11 counts of possessing a dangerous drug, nine counts of possessing a utensil and one count of possessing a concealable firearm. Among those charged was a 31-year-old Walkerston man, two Finch Hatton men aged 27 and 23, and three Calen men, one aged 32 and the others in their 40s. The charged were issued with a notice to appear to face the Mackay Magistrates Court at a later date. Investigations are continuing.
