Appeal for witnesses – Sunnybank assault
A 16-year-old boy was left with serious internal and facial injuries following an assault at Sunnybank on Saturday afternoon.
The boy was located injured by a female shopper at the Sunnybank Plaza car park just before 4pm.
She called an ambulance and he was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he remained overnight in intensive care.
Detective Sergeant John Mison, Upper Mt Gravatt Child Protection and Investigation Unit, said as the boy could not provide investigating officers with a description of the offender/s, police were appealing to shoppers to come forward with any information they may have.
“This is a serious assault that has left a young man with a lacerated spleen and injuries to his head, mouth and left eye,” Detective Sergeant Mison said.
“The incident occurred in broad daylight in an area frequented by members of the public. Someone must have seen something.
“The boy is Caucasian, approximately 170cms tall, with a slim build, auburn hair and has a freckled complexion. He was wearing a light coloured hooded jumper, dark jeans and was carrying a black and white Billabong shoulder bag,” he said.
“We’re appealing to anyone who may witnessed the assault or seen a boy fitting this description at the plaza to come forward to police. The smallest piece of information may help us to locate those responsible for the assault”.
Anyone with information which may assist police with their investigations is asked to contact Upper Mt Gravatt CPIU on 3364 3147 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
