Morning Round-up
UIL arrest and vehicle impoundment, Ipswich: A 31-year-old man has had his vehicle impounded for 48 hours after a series of burnouts in the centre of the Ipswich CBD this morning. Around 2.10am the man is alleged to have wilfully created smoke by causing his car to burnout in Brisbane Road after an altercation with a resident in the area. He is then alleged to have continued along Brisbane Road into the Ipswich CBD where he caused another three large burnouts within a 400 metre stretch of Brisbane Road. The burnouts caused so much smoke that the vehicle could not be seen. Police were able to view the Ipswich City Council security vision which showed clear vision of the offences and the wanted vehicle. A short time later police attended an address at Regency Downs and located the alleged driver. The man underwent a breath test and allegedly returned a reading of 0.153 per cent. He will appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on May 22 charged with drink driving, four counts of wilfully creating smoke (burnouts), learner driving unaccompanied, failing to display L plates, and driving an unsafe vehicle.
