Morning Round-up, second edition

Arson, North Rockhampton: Police will continue investigations into the arson of a North Rockhampton soccer club this morning. Around 2.15am the Bluebirds United Soccer Club on Richardson Road sustained structural damage after a fire.  It is believed that unknown person/s moved a hessian bailing bag containing cardboard and two wheelie bins against a storeroom wall constructed of wooden battens.  The cardboard was set alight, quickly igniting the wheelie bins and in turn spreading to the timber battens and the roof of the general storage area.  The QFRS was alerted by a passing taxi driver and the fire extinguished.  Scenes of Crime and Scientific officers will continue investigations this morning.

Anyone with information which could assist police with their investigations should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Murder arrest, Yarrabah: A 40-year-old man will appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today charged with murder.  Around 10.30 last night a 27-year-old Yarrabah man died in hospital after receiving what appears to be a stab wound.
