Free ID service for home and business valuables

Police from the Metropolitan North Region will be holding a free property-marking session for individuals and businesses.

Project ID It was piloted in Sandgate last year, and is now being rolled out throughout the region over the next six months.

Senior Constable Cherie Crane, Project ID It manager, said the project aimed to increase the participation rate of property marking within the community.

“Project ID It incorporates traditional engraving methods, as well as incorporating microdot technology, and digital photography of valuables,” Senior Constable Crane said.

“It’s really important that people engrave and photograph their valuables, as it helps to deter would-be thieves, and it also means that if stolen property is found it is easier to return to the owner.”

Queensland College of Art (Griffith University) photographers will assist police on Saturday at the Lang Park Police Citizens Youth Club, at Suncorp Stadium, Castlemaine Street, Milton, from 8.30 to 11.30am.

Photographs of your valuables will be transferred onto a CD-Rom for participants to keep and make further copies of.

To book for this free service, please phone 3354 5055 before 4pm today. Places are strictly limited.
