Bus driver assaulted, Runaway Bay

Police are investigating the assault of a female bus driver at the Runaway Bay Shopping Centre yesterday.

Between 2.20pm and 2.40pm a woman entered the bus at the shopping centre and produced an expired ticket.

The bus driver would not permit the woman to enter the bus without paying for her fare.

The woman became aggressive and abusive before punching the female bus driver with a closed fist in the left eye.

The woman then left the bus and was last seen running into the shopping centre.

The driver sustained bruising to her left eye.

The woman is described as being of Aboriginal or Pacific Islander appearance, approximately 170cm tall, of solid build.
