Morning Round-up second edition
Factory fire, Northgate: A Northgate factory was extensively damaged by an overnight blaze. Shortly after midnight emergency services were advised of the fire at a LED lighting business, located in Crockford Street. The building, which also housed an auto electrical business, suffered significant structural damage as a result of the fire. The cause of the blaze is currently unknown and scientific officers will conduct an examination of the scene when the building has been declared safe. Police investigations are continuing.
Man stabbed, Rosewood: A 34-year-old Rosewood man was allegedly stabbed three times in the back with an unknown implement after an altercation with a group of youths at Rosewood last night. Around 10.45pm the youths were walking past the Royal George Hotel, John Street when they allegedly began arguing with hotel patrons. A man went outside to quell the situation when he was allegedly stabbed. He was transported to Ipswich Base Hospital with non life threatening injuries. It is believed the youths had earlier been at a nearby birthday party in which a 20-year-old Rosewood man was allegedly assaulted and transported to Ipswich Base Hospital. A police officer, called to the residence in response to the assault and a noisy party, was allegedly punched in the head by a 19-year-old Brassall man. The man was issued with a Notice to Appear for assault police, obstruct police and public nuisance. Police investigations are continuing.
Robbery, Clayfield: Police will continue investigations today into an overnight robbery at Clayfield. Around 11.20pm a man entered the Clayfield Food Market on Sandgate Road and tried to grab the cash register. The attended yelled at the man and stepped towards him and was pushed in the chest causing him to fall onto display shelves and to the ground. The man then ripped the register from the counter and ran from the store into the car park on Bonney Avenue and drove off in an older model white hatchback inbound on Sandgate Road. The man is described as of Pacific Islander appearance, around 175cm tall with a proportionate build.
