Fatal, Kilcoy: The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a single vehicle crash in Kilcoy this morning. About 9.10am a man driving a sedan left the road and drove into a ditch in Williams Street, Kilcoy. QAS officers transported the man to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating whether he suffered a medical condition prior to the crash.
Fatal, Rainbow Beach: A man died and his wife was airlifted with serious injuries after a single vehicle crash at Rainbow Beach this morning. About 10am a vehicle with a trailer on it left the road and rolled down an embankment on Rainbow Beach Road about 10 kilometres from Rainbow Beach. An elderly man was trapped in the vehicle for about an hour. He was taken out of the vehicle however has died. An elderly female in the vehicle is being treated on scene and then airlifted to Nambour hospital. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the crash.
Fatal, Wyreema (Toowoomba): Police are at the scene of a fatal crash at Wyreema outside of Toowoomba, where a male motorcyclist and his female pillion passenger have died. Police and Emergency Services, including a helicopter, were called to Karara Road just before 1pm today. A woman and child from the car also sustained serious injuries. The Forensic Crash Unit is currently at the scene.
Murder arrest, Bribie Island: A 38-year-old Banksia Beach man has been charged with murder following the death of a man at Bellara last night. The victim, a 34-year-old man was allegedly stabbed, dying at the scene. The alleged offender will appear in the Caboolture Magistrates Court tomorrow.
Operation Trap Door, Gold Coast: Gold Coast Police will continue to enforce road rules and crack down on speeding after a horror weekend on roads across Queensland. On Gold Coast this weekend, police and Department of Transport officers conducted Operation Trap Door. It is the sixth Operation Trap Door campaign conducted on the Gold Coast with a focus on drug and drink driving, defective and illegally modified vehicles. Acting Senior Sergeant Scott Bolitho said the operation was conducted at two static sites at Brisbane Road, Labrador and near the Sundale Bridge at Southport, as well as marked and unmarked mobile patrols. Police conducted 607 random breath tests with seven people detected driving under the influence of alcohol. A 37-year-old Labrador man was detected with a blood alcohol content of 0.263%. Forty random drug tests were conducted with two motorists returning a positive test. Testing will continue in these two matters. Thirteen motorists were issued Notices to Appear in relation to Type 2 offences and 68 infringement notices were served on people for offences including undue noise, speeding, seat belt and mobile phone offences, defective vehicles and licensing, registration and insurance offences.
