Update, Missing man, Julia Creek: The search for a missing 70-year-old man who is feared to have been swept away by rising flood waters yesterday, has been suspended for the day. Extensive air, water and land searches in the vicinity of the Flinders River bridge crossing on Taldora Road were conducted today without success. It is believed the man and his tractor may have been swept off the bridge yesterday morning. Water levels in the area are continuing to rise. The search will resume tomorrow.
Correction, serious crash, Mount Ommaney: The person seriously injured in a two vehicle crash at Mount Ommaney last evening was a 20-year-old male passenger and not the 17-year-old female driver, as reported in our media release. Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision between a car and taxi at the intersection of Dandenong Road and Endeavour Street, Mount Ommaney at 10.30pm last evening to contact them. The car contained a 17-year-old female driver, a 16-year-old girl and two men aged 20 and 18. The 20-year-old man sustained serious injuries while the other three occupants suffered minor injuries. The taxi driver and his three passengers, two men aged 21 and 36 and a 57-year-old woman were not injured. Anyone with information which could assist police with their investigations should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
South Bank arrests: Police arrested three men following an incident at South Bank this afternoon. Around 3.25pm police were called to the market area of the Parklands in relation to five men creating a disturbance. Upon arrival one of the men allegedly fled and allegedly pushed members of the public aside. Police followed the man and attempted to restrain him, during which time it is alleged he assaulted one of the officers. A second man allegedly attempted to interfere with police and was also arrested. A third man then approached police, who were still struggling with the two other men, and allegedly began threatening them with raised fists. Police managed to keep the man at bay by holding out their OC spray. The man was restrained by security personnel who arrived a short time later. An 18-year-old Collingwood Park man was charged with one count each of assault police, obstruct police and public nuisance. A 17-year-old Goodna man was charged with obstruct police and the third man, a 17-year-old from Inala has been charged with assault police and obstruct police. All three men are due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on March 23. Police did not deploy their OC spray.
