Road Closures: Townsville District
Police would like members of the public and motorists to limit non-essential travel during the current heavy rains and flooding being experienced in large areas of Townsville.Many roads are suffering from large volumes of surface water which along with adverse weather conditions can make travel extremely hazardous.
Police would like to remind motorists to exercise extreme caution when traveling on the road and not to cross flooded causeways or roadways.
Many road surfaces are suffering from the deluge and pot holes and road deterioration can be expected.
Members of the public should be mindful that road conditions and closures will change as creeks and water courses can rise and fall quickly. Under no circumstances should motorists drive through floodwater as water levels can rise quickly and inundate vehicles.
People driving in and around the Townsville district are advised of the following road closures.
