Morning round-up second edition
Fatal crash, Proserpine: About 3.40am today a prime mover collided with a sedan on the Bruce Highway, approximately 9 kilometres south of Proserpine. Initial investigations indicate the sedan was turning at the intersection of Lascelles Avenue when the crash occurred. After the collision the prime mover left the road and came to rest in a cane field. The sedan was extensively damaged and one person, believed to be the sole occupant, is deceased. The Bruce Highway is currently closed and police are diverting traffic around the scene.
Appeal to identify injured cyclist, Carrara: Police are appealing for information to help identify a cyclist who was struck while riding at the intersection of Nerang Broadbeach and Nielsens roads at Carrara about 1am today. Initial investigations indicate that the cyclist was hit by a four-wheel drive. The cyclist was not carrying any personal identification and is currently being treated for head injuries in the Gold Coast Hospital. The injured man was riding a blue Giant brand racing bike.
