Arson charge, Wondai: A 47-year-old woman has been charged with one count of arson following a house fire in Wondai last night. About 7pm, it is alleged a triple zero call was made in relation to the fire on Giblin Road. It is alleged police found the residence destroyed by fire along with nearby vehicles. A court date has been set for today at Murgon Magistrates Court.
Traffic Incident, Palm Beach: The driver of utility that crashed into a power pole at Palm Beach last night has been charged with drink driving. Just before 6pm, a car travelling along Townson Avenue struck a parked vehicle in a driveway before hitting a power pole. A man in his 20s who was a passenger in the utility suffered chest and leg injuries and had to be freed from the vehicle by the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service. The 21-year-old driver from Palm Beach was uninjured in the crash. He will appear in Coolangatta Magistrates Court on April 20 charged with driving with a blood alcohol concentration.
Officer injured during arrest, Gladstone: A Gladstone police officer was injured last night while arresting a man. The officer arrested a 31-year-old man on McCann Street, Gladstone just after midnight for public nuisance. During the arrest the man allegedly struggled with police. A male officer was allegedly forced against a fence causing cuts and abrasions. He was treated at Gladstone Hospital before returning to complete the remainder of his shift.
