Fatal motorcycle crash, Park Ridge South: Police are investigating a two-vehicle traffic crash that claimed the life of a motorcyclist south of Brisbane this afternoon. The male rider, aged in his 40s, died at the scene after he collided with a car on Rosia Road, Park Ridge South about 4.40pm. The driver of the car was not injured. The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated by the Forensic Crash Unit. Anyone with information which could assist police with their investigations should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Further murder arrest, Edmonton: A 36-year-old man wanted in relation to the alleged murder of a man at Edmonton, south of Cairns, in January was located today by New South Wales police. Officers from NSW State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad located the man at a home in Victoria Rd at Macquarie Fields, Sydney about 12.10pm. He was arrested in relation to a warrant issued by Queensland Police. He will appear in Campbelltown Local Court tomorrow at which time Queensland Police detectives will commence extradition proceedings. It is alleged the man was involved in the death of 34-year-old Edmonton man Lance Sobieralski on January 17. Skeletal remains were located in the vicinity of the Gillies Highway last weekend and are undergoing forensic testing to determine their identity. A 39-year-old woman and two men, aged 25 and 28, have already been charged with murder.
Dangerous operation arrest, Gladstone: Police arrested and charged a 28-year-old Perth man after he allegedly stole two cars and evaded police near Gladstone this afternoon. The man was first seen by police allegedly leaving the Bruce Highway at Calliope in a stolen car about 1pm however he managed to avoid capture. It is alleged he then dumped that car, stole a second vehicle from a nearby residence and drove towards Gladstone. The vehicle was observed by police around 4pm at which time a short pursuit ensued. The man was arrested after a foot pursuit. He has been charged with eight offences including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, break and enter, stealing, two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two counts of wilful damage and failing to stop for police. He will appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court tomorrow.
Robbery with violence arrests, Cairns: Police have charged three men with robbery with violence after a 24-year-old tourist was allegedly assaulted and robbed early yesterday. It is alleged the man had his wallet and phone stolen by the trio about 3am yesterday. The men, all from Edmonton and aged 23, 26 and 27, will appear in Cairns Magistrates Court tomorrow.
