Fatal crash, Rockhampton: A man in his 20’s has died after a crash near Rockhampton overnight. The crash involving a car and pedestrian occurred on the southbound lanes of the Capricorn Highway, about 800 metres west of the Yeppon roundabout, just before 8.20pm. Attempts were made to revive the man however he died at the scene. The driver of the car was not injured in the incident and officers from the Forensic Crash Unit are investigating. Anyone with information which could assist police with their investigations should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Update – Dangerous operation charges, Gladstone: A 28-year-old Perth man with face a further 19 charges after an incident in Gladstone yesterday afternoon. The further charges include five counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle along with burglary, possession of weapons, assault police, possession of tainted property, possession of a utensil, enter premises to commit an indictable offence, enter premises with intent, stealing and unlawful possession of a motor vehicle. The man will front Gladstone Magistrates Court today. A 23-year-old woman who allegedly fled into bushland near Blain Drive during the incident and was later located has been charged with three counts each of burglary and unlawful use of a motor vehicle; two counts each of stealing and unlawful possession of weapons; and one count each of bringing stolen good into Queensland, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, enter dwelling with intent, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property and possession of a utensil. Bail was refused and the woman will also appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court today.
Evade police, Chermside: A 30-year-old Chermside man has been issued with a Notice to Appear after an incident in Chermside last night. Around 7.40 an officer patrolling in Parkdale Street, Chermside attempted to pull a motorcycle over. The rider of the motorcycle allegedly failed to stop and continued driving. The officer followed for a short distance before the rider turned into Rode Road and stopped. The 30-year-old man has been issued a Notice to Appear for a later date in relation to driving whilst under the influence of liquor and evading police.
