Morning Round-up second edition

Armed robbery arrest, Edmonton: Police have charged a 16-year-old boy with armed robbery after he allegedly robbed a service station at Edmonton, south of Cairns, this morning. It is alleged the boy was armed with a knife when he entered the service station on the Bruce Highway at 1.10am and demanded money from the female console operator. The woman was unharmed and the boy allegedly escaped with a small sum of money. He will face Cairns Children’s Court tomorrow.

Update – fatal crash, Hervey Bay: The vehicle involved in the fatal crash at Torquay last night contained six occupants, not four, as previously advised. A 13-year-old boy was killed in the crash and the 18-year-old female driver has been airlifted to a Brisbane hospital.  A second 13-year-old boy, two 16-year-old boys and a man, 24, are all being treated in hospital.

Water Police celebrate 150 years, Lytton: The Queensland Water Police will celebrate their 150 anniversary today by unveiling a commemorative plaque. The Brisbane Water Police Complex, Howard Smith Drive, Lytton will be open to the public from 9.30am to noon.
