Morning Round-up - Second Edition

Double fatal, Millaa Millaa: A man and a child have died and a third child has been transported to hospital after a semi-trailer crashed on the Kennedy Highway at Millaa Millaa this morning. Police were called to the single vehicle crash on the highway at the Ravenshoe turn-off about 4.30am today. The highway is currently closed and is expected to remain closed for the next couple of hours. There are no further details available at this stage.

Rape and assault charges, Coominya: A 44-year-old man has been charged following the alleged sexual assault of a 24-year-old woman at Coominya yesterday morning. Around 10am it is alleged the man threatened the woman while she was at Coominya. It is then alleged the man drove her to another location at Wivenhoe Dam where she was sexually assaulted. The 44-year-old has been charged with two counts of rape, one count each of deprivation of liberty, stalking, assault with intent to rape, threatening violence and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court tomorrow.
