Morning round up

Armed robbery, Marsden: Police are investigating an armed robbery at a pizza store on Chambers Flat Road last night. Around 10pm an armed man allegedly entered the store and demanded cash. He then jumped the service counter and became involved in a scuffle with the employee of the store, who received a minor cut to his face from a small knife as a result. The offender fled the store on foot with an amount of cash. The victim was treated by QAS at the scene. He is described as Caucasian with a small amount of facial hair, approx 175cms tall with a medium build. He was wearing blue style work shorts and a maroon hooded jumper. Anyone with information which could assist police with their investigations should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Overdue bushwalker, Daintree National Park: Police and the SES will begin the search at first light for a male bushwalker who failed to return from a trek in the Daintree National Park last night. Around 11am yesterday, the 25-year-old walker was attempting a 6 hour trek to Alexandra Falls on Alexandra Creek, Thortons Beach area of the park, but when he hadn’t returned last night the alarm was raised. The 25-year-old is dressed in suitable bushwalking attire and is in possession of food and water. He is described as being physically fit to walk the difficult trek.

Robbery with violence, Browns Plains: Two people were taken to Logan Hospital last night after being assaulted on Browns Plains Road, between Commerce and Webber Drive around 9.45. The 41-year-old man and 34-year-old woman were walking home from the Browns Plains bus station when they were approached from behind by up to 8 people who attempted to rob them and steal a small scooter in their possession Both were assaulted when they refused to hand over their possessions. Eventually the group stole the woman’s handbag before fleeing the scene. The man and woman were treated for bruising to their face, chest and back. Burglary charges, Cardwell: A 39-year-old man will appear in the Innisfail Magistrates Court today charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, enter dwelling with intent and assault occasioning bodily harm after an alleged incident in Scott Street yesterday. It’s alleged the man assaulted the occupant of a home in Scott Street around 3am, before fleeing to a nearby address and stealing a trail bike then returning to the original offence location. Police detained the suspect at that location.
