Fire, Mudgeeraba: Police are investigating a fire at an address on Cobai Drive at Mudgeeraba this morning. Around 6.50am police were called after members of the public noticed smoke coming from the residence. The blaze damaged parts of the house before Queensland Fire and Rescue Service attended. Police are treating the fire as suspicious at this stage. Anyone with information which could assist police with their investigations should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Unlawful wounding charges, Cairns: Police have charged a 45-year-old man after an incident in Bungalow this morning. Around 2am police were called to a residence on Aumuller Street. It is believed there was an altercation between a man and woman which allegedly resulted in the woman receiving a wound to the leg. The man has been charged with one count each of unlawful wounding, possession of a dangerous drug and permit place to be used. The man is due to face Cairns Magistrates Court tomorrow.
Update - Truck roll-over, south of Cunnamulla: The Mitchell Highway, south of Cunnamulla is now re-opened to all traffic. A detour around the crash site has been prepared and became operational from 1pm this afternoon. Crews continue with the clean-up of the chemical spill at the incident site.
Drink driving charges, Mt Isa: Police have charged a 27-year-old man with drink driving, obstruct police, fail to remain at the scene of a crash and drive without due care following an incident at Mt Isa this morning. The man allegedly lost control of his vehicle around 4.30am and crashed into a power pole at the intersection McCarthy and Kaeser Streets. Numerous houses had their power disrupted as a result of the power pole being down. The man is due to face Mt Isa Magistrates Court tomorrow.
