Sunshine Coast continue crack-down on drugs
The continued crack-down on the supply of illicit drugs in the Sunshine Coast District has resulted in 21 people being charged.
Around 5.30pm on Wednesday, June 24 police intercepted a vehicle on the Bruce Highway near the Ettamogah Hotel. It is alleged police located cannabis, 195 ecstasy tablets and $62,000 inside the vehicle.
Two men, a 37-year-old from Warana and a 27-year-old from Kings Beach, were charged with two counts of possessing of a dangerous drug, and one count each of trafficking a dangerous drug, possessing things used in a commission of a crime and possessing tainted property. They are both due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on July 22.
Police from the Sunshine Coast Criminal Investigation Branch, Tactical Crime Squad and Dog Squad with assistance from the State Drug Squad and Australian Customs and Border Security also executed a number of search warrants in the Sunshine Coast District on Tuesday, June 30 and Wednesday, July 1.
As a result, 19 people were charged on 68 offences including trafficking, supplying dangerous drugs, possessing utensils, possessing things used in the commission of a crime and possessing proceeds of crime.
They are all due to appear in the Maroochydore and Caloundra Magistrates Courts on various dates.
