Morning round up second edition
Update – fatal crash, Banyo: The Forensic Crash Unit is appealing for the driver of a small white vehicle, believed to be traveling behind a motorcycle on Nudgee Road this morning to contact police. A 44-year-old man from Rothwell died when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car around 3.45am. Initial investigations suggest the man was traveling in a westerly direction along Nudgee Road when a car, driven by a 30-year-old woman, attempted to turn right onto Nudgee Road from Buchanan Road. Anyone with information which may assist police with their investigations should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Burglary charge, Carbrook: An 18-year-old woman has been charged with burglary, wilful damage and possession of tainted property after she allegedly stole personal items and cash from a house at Carbrook. It is alleged the woman entered the German-Church road residence around 6.25pm yesterday; she is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on August 20.
Shooting, Mornish (Rockhampton): Rockhampton police are investigating an incident at Mornish last evening in which a man received a gun shot wound. Around 9pm police were called to a Rosewood Wycarbah Road residence in relation to a disturbance. A 49-year-old man was located at the residence with a single wound to his shoulder; he was transported to Rockhampton Base Hospital where he remains in a stable condition. A 52-year-old local woman is currently assisting police with their investigations.
Suspicious house fire, Toowoomba: Police are investigating a suspicious Toowoomba house fire which occurred early his morning. Around 12.30am police and Queensland Fire and Rescue Service responded to reports of flames protruding from the front of a vacant dwelling in Archibald Street. No one was injured as a result of the fire; however the house suffered some structural damage. Anyone with information which may assist police with their investigations should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
