Fatal truck crash update, Roseneath (near Townsville): A fatal crash which occurred at Roseneath, south of Townsville, yesterday is being treated as an industrial incident. The crash, which claimed the life of a 49-year-old man, occurred about 1pm at a quarry on private property off the Flinders Highway. It appears the man’s truck went over the edge of the road and down an embankment. The driver was declared deceased at the scene. Police have now handed the investigation over to the Department of Mines and Energy.
Armed robbery, Marsden: Chewing gum was stolen from a Marsden service station last night by a male armed with what appeared to be a firearm. About 10.20pm the male entered the Mobil Service Station on Chambers Flat Road and threatened the female attendant with the weapon before demanding cash. The woman refused his request twice and the man stole some chewing gum before fleeing the store on foot. He was last seen on Tamarind Street. He is described as being Caucasian, in his mid to late teens, approximately 175cm tall with blonde hair. He was wearing a black hooded jumper and was carrying a black back pack.
