Charges after crash, Darra: A 28-year-old woman will appear in the Richlands Magistrates Court on Monday charged with BAC 0.146% and disqualified driving after a traffic incident this afternoon. Just before 4pm today a two vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of Boundary Road and Acanthus Street at Darra. The 28-year-old woman allegedly crashed a stolen taxi into the rear of a stationary car containing two off duty police officers who were waiting to turn right at the T-intersection. Despite sustaining injuries in the crash the officers managed to detain the woman and her 39-year-old male passenger until police arrived on the scene. Both officers were examined at the QE11 Hospital and treated for soft tissue injuries and pain. Police are continuing investigations into the unlawful use of the taxi.
Serious crash, Mansfield: A 35-year-old man is in a serious condition in the PA Hospital after a single vehicle crash at Mansfield this afternoon. Preliminary investigations indicate that around 5pm the man was riding a motorbike out of a driveway onto Cresthaven Drive and accelerated rapidly losing control. The man was thrown over the handlebars landing on the roadway. At the time of the incident the man was not wearing a crash helmet and suffered life threatening head injuries. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident.
Gateway fatal witnesses sought: Police are investigating reports that produce was stolen from the scene of a fatal traffic crash on the Gateway Bridge around 5.30 this morning. Police have received a report that a man driving a silver Holden Commodore utility stopped at the scene of the crash and may have stolen a small amount of produce from the crash site. The man left the scene and drove south over the bridge. Stafford CIB is investigating the report and detectives are keen to speak with anyone who has any information on the incident or witnessed the man at the scene.
