Officer assaulted, Kallangur: A 21-year-old Murrumba Downs woman has been charged with serious assault of a police officer after she allegedly attacked a police officer yesterday. The officer was arresting a man at 6.30pm at a hotel on Anzac Avenue at Kallangur when the woman allegedly hit the officer from behind several times and scratched him in the eye. The constable sustained a lacerated eye ball and a contusion to the rear of his head and required treatment at hospital. The woman will appear in Pine Rivers Magistrates Court at a later date.

Attempted armed robbery, Kuraby: Two male youths escaped empty-handed after attempting to rob a Kuraby convenience store at 9.15pm yesterday. One of the offenders approached the store attendant and produced a knife before demanding money and cigarettes while the second offender waited outside. They left the Beenleigh Road store without stealing any property. The employee was not injured. One of the offenders is described as being about 15 years of age, 163cm tall, of Pacific Islander appearance and slim build. He was wearing a black t-shirt, black jeans, white sneakers and a black cap with a yellow star on it. Armed robbery, Torquay: Police are searching for a syringe-wielding man who held up a convenience store at Torquay, north of Maryborough last night. The man entered the store on Charlton Esplanade at closing time at 10pm and threatened the employee with a syringe, forcing him to empty the contents of the safe into a sports bag. The offender left the scene without harming the employee. He is described as being about 180cm tall with an average build and aged about 30. He was wearing black track pants, a dark coloured hooded jumper, a black balaclava and cotton gloves.
