Afternoon Round-up

Search and rescue, Paluma: Police and SES are currently searching for a 24-year-old man at Paluma. Police were notified last night that the man had failed to return from a walk. A search of walking tracks and dense rainforest was commenced at first light today.

House fire, Tully: Police are currently investigating the cause of a house fire at Kirk Street, Tully. About 5.00 this morning a fire broke out on the top floor of the house causing extensive damage. No one was harmed.

Update – Mt Isa double murder investigation: Police are still appealing for witnesses following the brutal assault of an elderly Mt Isa couple in their Pelican Road home on August 17. Police were called to the residence around 9am where the body of an 82-year-old man was located. A 71-year-old woman suffering severe head injuries was transported to the Mt Isa Base Hospital where she died today. Anyone with information which could assist police with their investigations should contact the Mt Isa Major Incident Room on 47441195, 47441196 or Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day.

Missing man, Murgon: Police are appealing for any information to help locate missing 33-year-old man, Noel Allan Clark. Mr Clark was last seen at Watt Street in Murgon on May 25, this year. Relatives reported the man missing to police in July after making enquiries and not being able to locate him. Police hold concerns for Mr Clark’s welfare.
