Serious traffic incident, Maryborough: A man in his 30s has been seriously injured after being struck by car in Maryborough last night. About 11.25 a sedan travelling east on Kent Street, near the intersection with Kenilworth Street, has hit the man. It is believed the man was lying on the road prior to being hit. The man was transported to the Hervey Bay Hospital with multiple leg and hip fractures.
Unlawful wounding charge, Bowen: A 20-year-old man will face court later this month on one count of unlawful wounding following an incident in Bowen on Friday night. It is alleged the man used a syringe to wound another man at a residence on Gordon Street about 8.15pm. The 26-year-old victim attended Bowen Hospital for treatment. The man will appear in Bowen Magistrates Court on August 18.
Boat crash, Fisherman Island: Brisbane Water Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a marine incident which occurred at Fisherman Island last night. About 6.20 a 38-foot Mustang Sports Cruiser collided with the rock wall at the far eastern end of the Fisherman Island reclaimed land area. It appears the vessel has struck the wall at a right angle forcing the boat into the air and up onto the rock wall. Six adults and two children on board were assisted by the Water Police. A 56-year-old woman sustained lacerations to the back of her head and suspected broken cheek bones. A 58-year-old man sustained a deep laceration to his chin. Both were transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital. Two children on board, aged two and three, were not injured. The hull of the vessel sustained significant damage.
Car over embankment, Mount Morgan: Police are investigating the cause of a single vehicle crash on the Burnett Highway at Mount Morgan about 10.30 last night. It appears a vehicle has driven over a 30 meter embankment. The male driver, and sole occupant, was not injured. Police diverted traffic to an alternate route around the range while the vehicle was recovered.
Update - armed robbery, Rockhampton: A 29-year-old man is to face Rockhampton Magistrates Court on one count of armed robbery. The charge relates to an incident at a grocery store at Richardson Road and Park Avenue Rockhampton last Wednesday night. It is alleged about 8.55 a man entered the store armed with a knife and approached three female employees at the counter demanding cash. The man was allegedly given an amount of cash and left the store. The Rockhampton man has been remanded in custody to appear on Monday.
