Morning Round up - Second Edition

Armed robbery, Broadbeach: A man robbed a convenience store situated on the Gold Coast Highway, Broadbeach early this morning. Around 3am a man entered the shop and showed the attendant a knife. The man demanded cash and cigarettes before fleeing on foot and heading towards Surfers Paradise. He is described as being Caucasian, in his early 30’s and approximately 180cm tall. He was wearing a grey jumper and a black balaclava. Clandestine laboratory charges, White Rock (Cairns): Police have charged two men in relation to the production of methylamphetamine in White Rock. It is alleged police located a clandestine laboratory at an address on Kambara Street after executing a search warrant on October 9. A 31-year-old man has been remanded in custody to appear in court in December on one count each of producing a dangerous drug and fraud. A 53-year-old man has been charged with one count of possessing a dangerous drug and is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court in November. Police investigations are continuing.

Grievous bodily harm charge, Maryborough: Police have charged a 17-year-old local man with grievous bodily harm after he allegedly assaulted a 37-year-old woman at Maryborough early this morning. The woman was walking down Wharf Street shortly after 2am when she was approached from behind by three females. They allegedly began pushing her around when a male teenager came up to the woman and allegedly struck her in the back of the head, face and stomach with a pipe before the group fled. The woman received treatment at Maryborough Hospital for a laceration to her head and bruising to her face and stomach. It is believed the man is due to appear in the Maryborough Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Serious assault police, Newmarket: A 19-year-old man has been charged with serious assault police and obstruct police after an incident at Newmarket last evening. Around 10.45pm police attended an Enoggera Road residence in relation to a disturbance. A man at the residence allegedly became abusive and aggressive towards police before allegedly hitting an officer in the face. The officer required treatment to a laceration to her lip. A 17-year-old woman was also issued with a Notice to Appear for assault and obstruct police. The man is due to appear at the Brisbane Magistrates Court on October 29.
