Unlawful wounding, Townsville A 33-year-old local man has been charged after a stabbing incident in Townsville last evening. About 7.20pm the man allegedly stabbed another man in the stomach and arm on Sturt Street. The victim managed to flee the attack and hail a police vehicle. Police pursued the alleged offender on foot for a short distance before arresting him. The man was taken to the Townsville Watchhouse where he was charged with one count of unlawful wounding and is due to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court this morning. The injured 25-year-old man was transported to Townsville General Hospital for treatment to non life threatening injuries.
Assault arrests Surfers Paradise: Two Campbelltown men have been charged in relation to the alleged assault of another man in Surfers Paradise last night. It is alleged around 6.30pm three men became involved in an altercation on the Esplanade at Surfers Paradise. As a result of the confrontation it is alleged a 23-year-old man was assaulted. He was transported to the Gold Coast Hospital for treatment. A 20-year-old man has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and a 21-year-old man has been charged with common assault. Both men are due to face Southport Court on October 27.
Fatal crash, Glasshouse Mountains: The driver of a truck has died following a rollover on the Bruce Highway early this morning. About 5.40am it appears that a B-Double truck travelling southbound has veered across the road and collided with the pylons of the Tiborgargan Creek Bridge. Motorists are advised there will be lane closures on the Bruce Highway. One southbound lane is expected to be closed for the next few hours. One northbound lane is expected to be closed until mid-afternoon. The male driver, believed to be the sole occupant, died at the scene.
Robbery, Carina: Police are investigating the robbery of a Carina video store which occurred last evening. Around 7.40pm a man entered the Creek Road store and threatened a store attendant with an unknown implement before fleeing with a sum of cash. He is described as Caucasian, approximately 180cms tall with a proportionate build and unshaven appearance; and was wearing a grey jumper, red cap and long dark pants.
