Afternoon round up

Grievous bodily harm, Helensvale: Police are investigating the assault of a 21-year-old Upper Coomera man at a Helensvale nightclub on Millaroo Drive this morning. The male suspect and victim have become involved in a verbal altercation around 2am before escalating to a physical fight a short time later. The victim was transported to the Gold Coast Hospital with head injuries. Police investigations are continuing.

Armed robbery, Booval: Police are searching for two men, one armed with a screwdriver, who stole a woman’s handbag at Booval yesterday afternoon. Around 3.30 a 25-year-old woman was walking towards a bank located in the Booval Shopping Centre, Brisbane Road when she was approached by one of the men. The man attempted to steal the woman’s bag and a struggle ensued. A male member of the public went to the woman’s assistance and was punched in the face. A second male offender then intervened and the pair managed to flee with the woman’s bag and a sum of cash. A 1989 white Ford Telstar sedan stolen earlier in the afternoon from the shopping centre and believed to have been used by the men was located burnt out in David Street, Booval shortly before 4pm. The men are described as around 180cms tall, Caucasian with proportionate builds and both were wearing sunglasses. The first offender had short light brown hair, unshaven and was wearing long pants. The second man had dark brown hair. Police investigations are continuing.
