Morning round up, third edition
Located missing person, Cloncurry: A 50-year-old man reported missing on October 1 after his vehicle was located near Brightlands Station on Duchess Cloncurry Road (55km south west of Cloncurry), has been located safe and well. The man was located in Cloncurry yesterday morning. Media and members of the public are thanked for their assistance.
Fatal crash, near Charters Towers: Police and emergency services are currently at the scene of a fatal crash which occurred west of Charters Towers this morning. Preliminary information indicates that a single vehicle rollover occurred on the Flinders Highway, 20klm west of Charters Towers, around 7.30. It is believed one of the two occupants of the vehicle died at the scene. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
House fire, Mossman: The cause of a fire which extensively damaged a house in Alchera Drive, Mossman early this morning is yet to be determined. Around 00.15am neighbours of an adjoining property heard smoke alarms and discovered the vacant house next door ablaze. They attempted to fight the fire with a garden hose whilst waiting the arrival of emergency services. Police investigations are continuing.
Robbery, Southport: Two men aged 21 and 22 have been charged with robbery with violence after it’s alleged they robbed a take-away food store on Scarborough Street this morning. Around 1.45am, it’s alleged the two men forced the assistant to the rear of the store where they stole the cash register. Police located the men a short distance away a short time later. The two men are due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow.
