Main road to Paluma Township closed
Police will be closing the Old Mount Spec and Mount Spec roads at 2.30pm today.The roads, which lead from the Bruce Highway to the township of Paluma, will be closed for the clean up of fire debris.
The gates at the intersection where the two roads meet will be locked.
Anyone who has not exited the Paluma National Park by 2.30pm will not be allowed to exit after this time.
Police ask any campers on the range to exit the park before this time.
There is no fire burning in the immediate vicinity, but police urge residents in the area to continue to regularly monitor updates issued by the Department of Community Safety (media releases) and the QFRS Rural Operations website at www.ruralfire.qld.gov.au or at www.fire.qld.gov.au. Residents should also monitor local radio stations for updates.
Police would like to remind motorists that travel can be extremely hazardous due to the bushfires and associated smoke haze. The Bruce Highway near Paluma currently is affected by a smoke hazard.
Motorists and pedestrians are reminded that road conditions can change rapidly and extreme caution should be exercised at all times. Local road closures are put in place as the fire threat or smoke haze demands.
