Appeal for witnesses - single bicycle crash, Brookfield: Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was critically injured after falling off his bicycle on Thursday afternoon. Around 5.15pm the 59-year-old was cycling along Savages Road, Brookfield, when it appears he may have lost control negotiating a bend and careened into a creek. Neighbours and passer-bys lifted the man out of the water and notified emergency services. Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the cyclist, who was wearing a helmet and lycra style bike clothing, to contact them. In particular police are appealing for the male rider of a yellow motorcycle, possibly a Suzuki, who was tending horses nearby when the incident occurred and may have witnessed the crash, to contact them. The Bellbowrie man remains in the Royal Brisbane Hospital with life threatening injuries. Serious crash, Mountain Creek: Police are investigating a serious single vehicle crash which occurred on the Sunshine Motorway, Mountain Creek on Thursday night. The incident occurred about 11.45pm at the Kawana Way exit. From initial inquiries it appears the male driver of a Toyota Landcruiser has lost control and slid off the ramp into a drainage ditch and rolled onto its roof. The driver and sole occupant, a 27-year-old Beerwah man, sustained serious head and chest injuries and was transported to the Royal Brisbane Hospital where he remains in a critical condition. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
Man dies, Home Hill: Police will prepare a report for the Coroner in relation to the death of a man at Home Hill about 5am yesterday. From initial investigations it is believed the man was on lying on the platform, next to the edge, when he was struck by a north bound goods train. The 33-year-old local man died at the scene.
Traffic crash, Pinkenba: A 26-year-old Pinkenba man has suffered life threatening injuries following a traffic crash at Pinkenba last night. Around 7pm the quad bike driven by the injured man was involved in an accident with a motorcycle on Sandemere Road. The man was transported to the Royal Brisbane Hospital. Police investigations are continuing.
Serious assault, Granville: Police have charged two people over the serious assault of a man in his 20’s which occurred around 7.40pm last evening. A 22-year-old man and 19-year-old woman allegedly assaulted the victim on the Granville Bridge at Odessa Street, Granville. The woman was charged with grievous bodily harm and two counts of assault. She is due to appear in the Maryborough Magistrates Court on October 27. The man was charged with grievous bodily harm and is due to appear in the Maryborough Magistrates Court on October 12.
Grievous bodily harm charge, Mount Isa: Police have charged two Mount Isa men, aged 22 and 21, after two elderly local men were allegedly assaulted last evening. Around 8.20pm the pair was in the car park of a licensed premise situated on the Barkly Highway, when they allegedly began creating a disturbance. Two 67-year-old men, who were in a nearby yard, were then allegedly assaulted by the men. One of the men sustained a serious eye injury and fractured ribs requiring hospitalization, whilst the second victim sustained swelling and bruising to his face. The 22-year-old man was charged with grievous bodily harm and the 21-year-old with assault occasioning bodily harm. Both men appeared in the Mount Isa Magistrates court this morning and have been remanded in custody to re-appear on November 23.
Stabbing, Shute Harbour: Police are investigating a stabbing which occurred at motel on Shute Harbour Drive, Shute Harbour about 2.55am today. On arrival police have located a 30-year-old man with multiple stab wounds to his upper body. From initial inquiries it is believed the victim was sitting in a room at the motel when a man has entered and made what appears to be an unprovoked attack. Two other males have managed to restrain the man enabling the victim to leave the room and seek help. The victim was taken to the Proserpine Hospital with multiple wounds to his neck, right arm and torso. The victim is to be transported to the Mackay Hospital for further treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Investigations are continuing.
