Armed robberies - Greenslopes, Ashgrove and Aspley
Police are appealing for information from the public following three armed robberies in Brisbane yesterday afternoon, which they believe are linked.
The first occurred around 1.10pm at a news agency on Kirby Road at Aspley.
A man entered the store armed with a large knife and demanded cash from the male staff member. He then left the store with a sum of cash and was last seen walking along Kirby Road and into Brassington Street.
The second occurred at 2.15pm at a convenience store on Banks Street at Ashgrove.
A man entered the store armed with a large knife and demanded money from the female attendant. He then tried to open the cash register but was not successful. The man left empty handed and was last seen on foot heading east along Bands Street.
The third occurred around 3.20pm yesterday at a furniture store on Logan Road at Greenslopes.
A man entered the store armed with a large knife and demanded money from the female staff member. The man then left the store with a sum of cash and was last seen heading on foot south along Logan Road.
The man is described as of South Pacific Islander or Maori appearance, around 183-188cm tall, with dark eyes. He was wearing a fluorescent work shirt, a dark piece of material wrapped around his face, dark coloured baseball cap and carrying a laptop-style bag.
Police believe the three robberies may also been linked to the robberies of two taxi drivers at Beenleigh and Helensvale yesterday morning. (Refer to previous media releases).
Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed any of the robberies to contact Crime Stoppers.
