Morning round up

Armed hold up, Elanora: Police are investigating the armed robbery of a bank at the 19th Avenue Shopping Centre yesterday afternoon. Around 4.15pm a man entered the 19th Avenue/Angelica Street bank, allegedly produced a handgun and demanded money from the bank tellers. The offender exited the bank with an amount of cash before driving off on a yellow and black motorbike in an unknown direction. The man was wearing a black motorcycle helmet and overalls at the time of the robbery. He is described as being approximately 25 to 35-years-of-age, approximately 180cms tall with a solid build.

Single bicycle crash, Brookfield: A 59-year-old man is in a critical condition in the Royal Brisbane Hospital after crashing his bicycle yesterday afternoon. Around 4.30pm a couple walking by a creek on Savages Road noticed a bicycle on the ground and the cyclist in the water. Neighbours and the passer-by lifted the man out of the water and notified emergency services. It’s believed the man may have lost control of the bicycle while attempting to negotiate a rise and right hand bend of Savages Road.

Armed robbery, Burleigh Heads: Police are appealing for witnesses to an armed robbery at a convenience store on the Gold Coast Highway just after midnight. Around 12.20am a man entered the store carrying a large knife and demanding money. The man fled the store on foot with an amount of cash and headed up Fifth Avenue towards to beach. He is described as being approximately 183cms tall with a fair complexion and brown eyes. He was wearing a dark brown hooded jumper with ‘Von Zipper’ printed in white on the front, denim shorts, a black baseball cap under the hood and he was carrying a black backpack.
