Fatal, Burleigh Heads: A 26-year-old man was killed this morning after he was hit by a prime mover on Leda Drive at Burleigh Heads. Preliminary investigations indicate the man was standing on the footpath about 10.40am with a 39-year-old man when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle mounted the footpath, striking the men. The younger man died at the scene while the older man received minor leg injuries. The 46-year-old male driver of the prime mover was not injured in the crash. The scene was cordoned off with traffic diversions in place. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Drug trafficking charge, Eumundi: As part of the Sunshine Coast District’s ongoing commitment to targeting illicit drugs, police arrested a 27-year-old Eumundi man following a search at a Grasstree Road residence today. Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) officers executed the search warrant around midday and allegedly located cannabis, cannabis plants, evidence of MDMA production, drug paraphernalia and a firearm. The man was charged with a string of offences including drug trafficking, possessing a dangerous drug, producing a dangerous drug, supplying a dangerous drug, possessing utensils and possessing an unlicensed firearm. He is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on November 9.
