Serious assault charge, Gladstone: A 25-year-old man will appear in the Gladstone Magistrates Court today charged with two counts of serious assault after an incident overnight at Gladstone. It is alleged the man was a part of a group of people who were involved in a dispute inside and outside a residence on Russ Street around 8.30pm. It is alleged one of the male occupants of the residence was assaulted and threatened with a weapon. The South Gladstone man was also charged with enter with intent, deprivation of liberty, unlawful possession of a weapon. Investigations are continuing. Armed robbery, Pomona: Police are currently investigating an armed robbery at a bowls club in Pomona. Around 9.15am a man entered the business and threatened a staff member with a knife demanding money. The man fled the area with a sum of money, and was last seen walking along Station Street at Pomona. The man is described as being in his late 40’s, of Caucasian appearance, about 165-170cm tall, solid build and a full beard. The man was wearing a dark jumper with the words ‘Everlast’ written in white letters, blue jeans and blue and white runners. He was possibly wearing a dark shirt underneath his jumper. Fire, Lytton: An industrial fire this morning has caused extensive damage to a plastic business at Lytton. Around 4.40am emergency services were advised a fire had been located in the rear of the premises on Benjamin Court. The QFRS attended and extinguished the fire which also caused damage to property inside the premises. Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire is non-suspicious however scientific and scenes of crime officers are in attendance to determine the actual cause. 

Two vehicle crash near Hampton: A 38-year-old Rockville man was taken to the Toowoomba Base Hospital after crashing into a tree near Hampton around 9.50am today. Preliminary investigations indicate the man was travelling on the New England Highway approximately 3kms south of Hampton when a truck collided with the rear of his vehicle. The 38-year-old drove off to the left side of the road and collided with a large tree. The crash also caused the 44-year-old male truck driver to travel onto the incorrect side of the road before stopping on a gravel shoulder. The 38-year-old was extracted by the QFRS and taken to hospital for treatment but it is believed his injuries are not life threatening. No one else is believed to be injured in the crash. The highway was closed until midday to allow for the removal of the vehicles. Investigations are continuing.
