Fatal crash Springsure: Police investigations will continue into a fatal crash at Springsure this afternoon. Around 2pm the single vehicle crash occurred approximately 40 kilometers south of Springsure on the Dawson Development Road (commonly known as the Springsure-Tambo Road). A truck believed to be a B- Double laden with gravel has left the road and collided with a tree. The driver was trapped for some time before being released from the wreckage. He was transported to hospital but died a short time later.
House fire, Coominya: Police are investigating a house fire at an address on Larsens Road at Coominya today. About 11.30am police were notified that the house was on fire. On arrival the house was found to be completely engulfed by flames. It is believed there were no occupants in the dwelling at the time of the fire. The house has been completely destroyed. Initial inquiries suggest the fire may be suspicious. Investigations are continuing.
Fatal crash, The Leap (north of Mackay): The Forensic Crash Unit is currently investigating a fatal crash at the Leap this morning. Around 11am a two-vehicle crash occurred in the south bound lanes of the Bruce Highway approximately one kilometer north of The Leap. A silver SAAB was travelling north and collided with a utility travelling south. The 62-year-old female passenger in the Saab died as a result of the crash. The 63-year-ol male driver was airlifted to Mackay Base Hospital in a critical condition. The female driver and passenger in the utility were taken to hospital. Their condition is not known at this time.
